Separate coverage reports that Mejuri CEO Noura Sakkijha attributed higher company costs to rising gold and silver prices, and that the company communicated a price increase to customers. The report does not provide a verified direct quotation or quantify the increase. Read the report on Mejuri’s response; the matching headline page contains only a teaser.
Why can rising metal prices affect jewelry prices?
Gold and silver are material inputs. When their prices rise, making or replacing pieces can cost more, putting pressure on what a jeweler charges, the range of products it offers, or its margins. The effect on any particular company depends on factors such as its inventory, sourcing, designs, and pricing decisions. The available reporting does not show how much Mejuri paid for metal or how its costs, margins, or sales changed.

Did Mejuri change the gold it uses?
The reporting describes Mejuri’s introduction of 10-karat solid-gold pieces as a way to provide a more accessible price point. It does not establish that the company changed the material in all its jewelry or replaced one gold specification with another across its range.
Karat describes gold purity: 10K and 14K are different material specifications, not interchangeable labels for the same product. How other jewelers responded to metal-cost pressure
Broader industry reporting describes a range of responses, but they should not be mistaken for Mejuri-specific decisions. Vogue’s 2026 feature says some independent designers used gold stock they already held, redesigned pieces to use gold more efficiently, added silver or other materials, or expanded their range of price points. In the United States, Associated Press reporting from May 2025 described increased activity in gold buying, selling, and refining as consumers and merchants reacted to high prices. The report also said some jewelers sourcing from Italy, Turkey, and China faced pressure on margins and demand from metal costs combined with added tariffs. Those are reported conditions for the merchants covered by AP, not evidence of Mejuri’s experience or a universal outcome for jewelry retailers. At that time, gold had cooled from a record above $3,500 per ounce; that is a May 2025 reference, not a current price. AP’s May 2025 report on gold businesses provides that context.
