Its earphone connection is USB Type-C, so you can use 3.5 mm wired headphones with a compatible USB-C adapter that has a built-in DAC.
How to use 3.5 mm wired headphones with the S22 Ultra
Connect your headphones to a USB-C-to-3.5 mm adapter, then plug the adapter into the phone’s USB-C port. Samsung specifies that the adapter must have a built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC); Samsung also cautions that third-party adapters need to be DAC-compatible. Not every USB-C audio dongle is guaranteed to work.
While the adapter is plugged in, it occupies the phone’s USB-C port. The cited Samsung guidance does not establish whether a particular splitter can charge the phone and play audio at the same time, so check the splitter’s specifications if you need both functions.
Other ways to listen
- USB-C headphones: Plug compatible USB-C wired headphones into the phone’s USB-C port.
- Bluetooth headphones: Pair wireless headphones with the phone. Samsung lists Bluetooth 5.2 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Samsung lists USB Type-C as the S22 Ultra’s earphone connection in its Galaxy S22 Ultra specifications. Its USB-C headphone adapter guidance explains the DAC requirement. Samsung’s guide to connecting Type-C wired headphones also covers wired and wireless listening options.
