The current maintained list includes Japanese Dragon Eel; older guides that show only eight entries are out of date. Use the table below to match each fish with its bait, time, weather and season, and check the in-game Bestiary if an entry differs after an update.
Unlock Crimson Cavern first
Crimson Cavern is a sublocation of Luminescent Cavern. The current Fisch Wiki location page says the Crimson Guard opens its gate when you present a Colossal Blue Dragon with the Crimson mutation. The location was added on September 20, 2025, in update 1.50.0, according to that page.
The page reports a 0.11% chance of obtaining the Crimson mutation by appraising at Moosewood. This is a version-sensitive wiki figure, not an independently tested probability or a guarantee. Trading for a qualifying fish is another possible route; the page also mentions using the Scarlet Spincaster Rod with help from someone who has already unlocked the cavern.
Crimson Cavern Bestiary fish and conditions
The current maintained location table lists these nine entries. The conditions below are that page’s reported requirements, not independently tested results.

| Fish | Bait | Time | Weather | Season |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red Spotted Blenny | Worm | Day | Clear | Spring |
| Sea Raven | Worm | Day | Rainy | Winter |
| Red Crabsquid | Any | Day | Clear | Summer |
| Viperfish | Minnow | Night | Rainy | Winter |
| Red Fangtooth | Flakes | Night | Rainy | Autumn |
| Japanese Dragon Eel | Squid | Night | Foggy | Winter |
| Vampire Squid | Truffle Worm | Night | Foggy | Autumn |
| Lithodes Megacantha | Weird Algae | Night | Foggy | Spring |
| Colossal Ancient Dragon | Shark Head | Any | Clear | Spring or Summer |
The location page confirms crab cages are available in the cavern. An older guide says Red Spotted Blenny and Lithodes Megacantha can appear in them, but verify that cage-specific route in-game before relying on it.
Plan catches around the entry conditions
- Open the Crimson Cavern entry in your in-game Bestiary and note which fish remain.
- Before pursuing a fish, check its listed season and weather, then fish at the specified time with the named bait. Prepare rare-target bait before its weather or seasonal window begins.
- For Colossal Ancient Dragon, the current table calls for Shark Head during clear weather in spring or summer, at any time of day. Beebom’s walkthrough recommends Sundial Totems to wait for its hunt spawn and says it leaves after 15 minutes, but that event timing is walkthrough advice rather than a verified timer. See Beebom’s walkthrough.
- If a listed condition does not match what the game shows, follow the in-game entry for your current version and check the location table again after an update.
Beebom also suggests rods such as the No-Life Rod, Rod of the Depths, Great Rod of Oscar, Heaven’s Rod, Pinion’s Aria and Ethereal Prism Rod, plus possible enchants including Piercing, Steady or Mystical. These are optional suggestions, not required equipment or independently tested recommendations. Night Shrimp and Weird Algae are also mentioned as general bait options, but the location-specific table above names the bait for each catch.

Why some guides show eight fish
An All Things How guide updated September 29, 2025, lists eight entries and omits Japanese Dragon Eel. The current location page, updated September 25, 2026, includes the eel, as does Beebom’s nine-fish walkthrough updated April 4, 2026. For current planning, use the nine-entry list and verify it against your game.
Weather requirements have also changed or been reported differently. The older guide says official entries omit rainy-weather requirements for Sea Raven, Viperfish and Red Fangtooth, while the newer location table and Beebom list rainy weather for all three. If rain does not appear to be required in your game, use the in-game Bestiary entry rather than assuming one fan-maintained table applies to every version.

Local completion is not whole-game completion
Filling the Crimson Cavern page is separate from completing the full Fisch Bestiary. The maintained general Bestiary reference says 70% overall completion makes the Destiny Rod available to buy from Caleia at The Arch for 190,000 C$, while completing 100% of the overall Bestiary awards the Aurora Bobber. It also says traded catches do not count toward the overall completion percentage, so catch entries yourself if that percentage is your goal.
