AdGuard VPN is worth trying if you want a limited free tier and a VPN built around its TrustTunnel protocol, but its privacy claims have not been independently audited. Tom’s Guide recorded a strong 688 Mbps TrustTunnel result in September 2025 and found access to Netflix and Disney+ in its test window; other tested services failed. The free plan is useful for a light trial, not unrestricted use.
Is AdGuard VPN any good?
AdGuard VPN’s clearest differentiator is TrustTunnel, a protocol the company says is designed to make VPN traffic resemble ordinary HTTPS traffic. AdGuard has open-sourced the protocol, which means its code can be inspected and reused. That is a positive for transparency, but it does not prove that the VPN service’s implementation or no-logs policy has been independently audited.
For everyday use, the service offers apps and browser extensions across major desktop and mobile platforms, with Linux and Android TV also listed by AdGuard. Supported features can vary by platform, so check the product information for the specific device and app you plan to use. AdGuard VPN platform and free-plan details
Is AdGuard VPN safe, and does it keep logs?
What AdGuard says it collects
AdGuard says it does not store user activity or connection logs, and that it collects minimal information to diagnose technical issues. Its transparency report, updated in June 2026, says the company reviews government and law-enforcement requests under Cypriot and EU law and discloses only data it holds. AdGuard says it cannot provide activity records because it does not store them and cannot link an IP address to a user. These are the company’s statements about its own practices, not an independent verification. AdGuard VPN transparency report

What open source does—and does not—establish
AdGuard describes TrustTunnel as using TLS encryption with HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 transports to blend in with ordinary HTTPS traffic. The company says the protocol is open source and available for inspection, modification, and use in other projects. Open code gives outside reviewers an opportunity to examine the protocol; it does not by itself confirm that the deployed service is configured securely or that the provider’s logging claims are accurate. AdGuard’s TrustTunnel open-source announcement
Tom’s Guide reported that it had not found independent third-party audits of AdGuard VPN’s protocols or no-logs policy. It also cautions against treating an AdGuard Google Play “independent security review” badge as a comprehensive audit of VPN infrastructure: AdGuard characterized that process as a Google Play data-safety review. Readers who require independently verified privacy controls should regard the audit gap as a material limitation. Tom’s Guide on TrustTunnel and its testing

How fast is AdGuard VPN?
Tom’s Guide reported a TrustTunnel speed measurement of 688 Mbps in testing conducted in September 2025. This is one publication’s result under its own test conditions, not a current speed guarantee; results depend on factors such as the user’s connection, location, server, and protocol. The report also said that, at the time of its testing, AdGuard VPN supported TrustTunnel and QUIC but not WireGuard or OpenVPN. Protocol support can change, so check current app options before choosing the service for a particular setup. Tom’s Guide’s September 2025 report
Does AdGuard VPN work with Netflix and other streaming services?
In Tom’s Guide’s reported test window, AdGuard VPN worked with Netflix and Disney+. The same test failed to access US Amazon Prime Video, US YouTube, and Australian 10Play. Is AdGuard VPN free?
AdGuard describes a free tier with 3 GB of traffic per month and two simultaneous devices. Its paid offering is described as unlimited traffic and support for up to 10 devices. These are the terms advertised by AdGuard; check the current offer and the limits in the app or storefront before signing up, since availability and product terms can change. AdGuard VPN free-plan information
The free tier can help you try the apps or use a VPN occasionally, but 3 GB per month is a restrictive allowance for regular browsing, downloads, or video streaming. AdGuard lists monthly, annual, and two-year subscriptions for Windows. Its 30-day money-back guarantee applies to one-year and two-year subscriptions purchased through AdGuard’s own website, according to the Windows product FAQ. Prices vary by storefront, currency, taxes, and promotions, so verify the checkout terms rather than relying on an old advertised price. AdGuard VPN Windows subscription and guarantee details

Who should choose AdGuard VPN?
- Consider it if you want to try a VPN without an immediate subscription, value an open-source protocol, or are interested in TrustTunnel’s HTTPS-like traffic design.
- Look more closely before subscribing if independently audited no-logs claims are essential to your decision; AdGuard’s privacy statements are company claims, and Tom’s Guide reported no independent protocol or no-logs audit.
- Do not buy it solely for a streaming service based on past test results. Confirm that your specific service and region work with the current app and servers.
- Check device-specific details before committing, since app features and availability may differ across Windows, other desktop systems, phones, browsers, and Android TV.
