On a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, press and hold Power and Volume Down together, then release when the screen flashes or shows capture feedback. The screenshot is saved in the Gallery app’s Screenshots album. You can also use Palm swipe if your software offers it, or use the S Pen’s Screen Write tool to annotate a capture.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press and hold Power and Volume Down at the same time.
- Release both buttons when the screen flashes or capture feedback appears. Avoid holding them for an extended time.
Samsung describes Power + Volume Down as the standard capture combination for Galaxy tablets. It is the most direct option on the Tab S6 and does not require a gesture setting or the S Pen. If your tablet has a physical Home button or its controls differ, use the combination described in the manual for your exact model; Samsung also documents Power + Home for tablets with that button.
Other ways to capture the screen

Enable Palm swipe, if your Tab S6 offers it
- Open Settings and search for Palm swipe to capture.
- Turn on the option if it appears.
- Swipe the edge of your hand across the display to capture the screen.
Samsung says this feature is not available on every model. If Settings does not show the option, use the buttons instead; the gesture should not be assumed to work on every Tab S6 software or regional version.
Use S Pen Screen Write to annotate
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Bring up the S Pen’s Air Command menu and choose Screen Write.
- Write or draw on the captured screen if needed, then save it.
The Tab S6 is sold as a model with an S Pen, and Screen Write is an optional capture-and-markup workflow. You do not need the pen for an ordinary screenshot. If yours is missing or damaged, check exact compatibility before buying a replacement.

Find, annotate, or share the screenshot
Open Gallery, select Albums, then open Screenshots. Samsung also describes opening a capture from the Smart Capture notification and sharing it from there or from Gallery. Notification controls can vary with software version.
Troubleshoot screenshot problems
- No capture feedback: Press Power and Volume Down together, then release when the screen flashes or shows confirmation. Do not keep holding the buttons.
- Palm swipe does nothing: Search Settings for the exact name, confirm the feature is available, and make sure it is enabled. If the setting is absent, use the buttons.
- An app blocks the screenshot: Some protected screens may prevent capture for security reasons. Respect the app’s restriction rather than trying to bypass it.
- Your controls or menus differ: Check the manual for your exact model number and software version. Samsung’s US support listing for the SM-T860 Wi-Fi Tab S6 includes manuals for different Android versions: Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 support.
Samsung’s general Galaxy tablet instructions may not match every regional model or software build. The Palm swipe option and exact notification controls can vary; the button method is the practical first choice when available.
