Microsoft’s support page says Copilot phone connection was due to be retired by the end of May 2026. Because that date has passed and Microsoft’s page does not confirm whether the feature still works, first check whether the option appears in your Copilot account. If it is available, the documented setup connects an Android phone to Copilot on a PC using Link to Windows and the same Microsoft account on both devices.
What Copilot phone connection can do
When available, the feature lets Copilot on a PC use information stored on a linked Android phone. Microsoft’s examples include asking about messages or a saved contact, sending a message, setting an alarm or timer, and locating a place on the phone’s map. Some additional controls—starting navigation and canceling alarms or timers—are limited to select Samsung devices.
Microsoft documents the feature for Copilot on a PC, not the Copilot mobile app. It does not support iPhone. See Microsoft’s phone connection instructions for its feature description and compatibility details.
Check the requirements
- An Android phone and a PC.
- A Microsoft account, used on both the phone and in Copilot.
- Link to Windows app version 1.24112.110.0 or later.
You do not need to buy a new phone if you already have a compatible Android device. To use the advanced alarm and timer actions Microsoft specifies for Samsung, the device must run Android 14 or later, the Clock app must be version 12.3.21.0 or later, and Link to Windows Service must be version 3.0.01.7 or later. Microsoft says navigation and alarm/timer cancellation work only on select Samsung devices.

Set up the connection if it is still available
- On your Android phone: Open Link to Windows, sign in with your Microsoft account, and follow the setup steps shown on the phone. If the phone is already linked to your PC through Phone Link, Microsoft says you can skip this step.
- On your PC: Open the Copilot app or go to copilot.microsoft.com. Sign in with the same Microsoft account you used in Link to Windows.
- Check the setting: In Copilot, open Profile > Account and look for the phone connection setting. The presence of the setting is a practical check; Microsoft’s documentation does not establish that the feature remains operational after its announced retirement date.
Try a supported request
Microsoft gives these example prompts for using connected phone information and actions:
- “Any new messages today?”
- “What’s Frank’s contact info?”
- “Set a 3-minute timer for boiling eggs.”
- “Send a message to Bruce to ask for gift ideas.”
- “Locate the nearest shopping mall on my phone.”
These are examples from Microsoft’s instructions, not a guarantee that every action works on every phone. In particular, do not assume that navigation or alarm/timer cancellation is available on Android devices generally; Microsoft limits those actions to select Samsung devices.

Switch phones or turn the feature off
Microsoft says only the most recently linked Android device appears for an account. To switch to another phone, repeat the linking process in Link to Windows on that device. To disable phone connection, open Copilot’s Profile > Account page and turn off the setting if it is present.

Microsoft’s support page, accessed October 4, 2026, carries the notice: “This feature will be retired by the end of May 2026.” The page does not state whether the feature continues to function after that date. Accordingly, the setup above describes Microsoft’s documented flow, not confirmed current availability. If the setting is absent from your Copilot account, the documented connection may no longer be offered to you.
