The Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi is a fixed, hardwired outdoor camera designed to cover a broad area from one mounting point. Reolink lists a stitched 180-degree view, 8-megapixel video, a 3,000-lumen floodlight and local recording options without a required monthly fee. Those specifications make it worth considering for an open driveway or yard, but they do not establish how much usable detail it captures at a distance or how well its alerts perform at your property.

What the Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi is

This is a wired Wi-Fi security camera with two lenses and a built-in floodlight. Reolink says the camera stitches the lens images into a panoramic view. It is not a battery-powered camera: the listed power input is AC 100–240V, 50–60Hz. The 5V/2A DC input is for setup, not normal operation. Reolink’s product page describes hardwired installation and wall or ceiling mounting.

The main design trade-off is fixed panoramic coverage versus a camera that turns to follow activity. The Elite is intended to watch a broad direction from one position; it does not provide 360-degree pan-and-tilt coverage. Android Central’s discussion of the newer TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi notes this distinction in limited context, mentioning the Elite’s broad coverage and lack of 360-degree coverage. That is not a comprehensive independent test of this model. Read Android Central’s TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi article.

How much area does it cover?

Reolink’s current Canada specification lists a 180° horizontal by 59° vertical field of view and a stitched output of 5120×1552 pixels (8 megapixels) at up to 20 frames per second. The company describes the result as a 180-degree panoramic image in 4K UHD on its US product page. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of detail across the entire frame. See the Canada specifications.

Built for outdoor durability with an IP65 waterproof rating, it offers flexible ceiling or wall mounting with adjustable light panels and camera angles for optimal coverage.

A wide angle can reduce blind spots across an open area, but it also spreads the image across a large scene. Do not assume the camera will provide the same identification detail at the far edge of its view as a narrower camera aimed at one entrance. Place it to frame the area that matters—such as the full width of a driveway—and check whether its mounting position leaves nearby approaches or important vertical areas outside the view. Floodlight and night vision

Reolink lists the light at 19W and 3,000 lumens, with adjustable color temperature from 3000K to 6500K. The product page describes stay-on, scheduled and motion-activated modes, and advertises illumination up to 12 meters. These are published claims, not independent measurements of brightness, activation delay or light spill. The light source is not replaceable; the quick-start guide says the complete luminaire must be replaced when the source reaches end of life. Product lighting details and quick-start guide.

For dark conditions, Reolink lists infrared night vision up to 30 meters (100 feet), using nine 850nm LEDs and an IR-cut filter. It also advertises color night footage when the floodlight is enabled. Those ranges and modes should not be read as a promise of recognizable detail at a particular distance: the result depends on the scene and installation, and no independent night-image test is established here.

Alerts, detection and deterrence

Manufacturer materials list person, vehicle and animal detection, plus mobile notifications. The Canada specification also lists line-crossing, intrusion-zone and loitering-zone alerts. Reolink’s US page lists a built-in 105dB siren and a custom five-second voice alert. Availability and exact controls can vary with regional firmware and app versions, so confirm the current feature set for your camera before relying on a particular alert or deterrent.

  • Light up large outdoor areas — 2000 lumen motion-activated floodlights give unwanted visitors nowhere to hide.

Detection categories describe what the camera is designed to classify; they do not prove accurate identification or a low false-alert rate in your yard. Trees, lighting, camera angle and movement in the scene can affect alerts. Treat alert quality, response time and recognition performance as things to validate at the intended mounting point rather than guaranteed outcomes.

Recording, subscription and NVR compatibility

Reolink says the camera can record without a required monthly fee. Its listed options include a microSD card, compatible Wi-Fi NVR, Reolink Home Hub or Hub Pro, and FTP/NAS. The Canada specification supports microSD cards up to 512GB and lists motion-triggered, scheduled and continuous 24/7 recording modes. Actual retention varies with card capacity, bitrate, schedule and recorded activity; the published capacity alone does not establish how many days of footage you will keep.

Wi-Fi, protocols and installation considerations

The Canada specification lists dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi and IEEE 802.11ac/ax support. It also lists RTSP, RTMP and ONVIF, alongside HTTPS, SSL and FTP. Protocol support can be useful for a networked setup, but it does not guarantee seamless operation with every third-party recorder or software package; confirm compatibility for the specific system and versions you intend to use.

Reolink describes Bluetooth-assisted network setup and IP66 weather protection. Because the camera requires hardwired AC power, installation involves more than choosing a Wi-Fi signal: the mounting location needs an appropriate power connection and a suitable view. Wire colors vary by region, so follow the installation guide for your market and applicable electrical requirements. The manufacturer’s IP rating is a stated specification, not a substitute for installing and sealing connections as directed.

Who should consider it?

  • A broad, fixed view is the priority: Its published 180-degree horizontal view is designed for wide scenes such as an open driveway or yard, rather than active pan-and-tilt tracking.
  • You want a light and camera in one installation: The listed 3,000-lumen floodlight and selectable color temperature add illumination options, while actual coverage and light behavior depend on positioning.
  • You want local recording choices: microSD, compatible Reolink recording hardware and FTP/NAS are listed options, without a required monthly fee.
  • You need battery or solar power: This is not the right fit; normal operation requires wired AC power.
  • You need assured identification detail at long range: The published resolution and field of view do not establish real-world detail at a particular distance. Look for independent testing or assess a camera with a narrower view for the critical approach.

Verdict

The Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi’s case rests on combining fixed panoramic coverage, a substantial published floodlight specification and local recording options in a hardwired camera. Its limits are equally important: it does not pan for 360-degree tracking, depends on wired power, and key performance questions—image detail, detection quality, light response and Wi-Fi reliability—cannot be answered from specifications alone. It is most promising when one fixed point can cover the area you need and you can verify recorder compatibility and installation suitability in advance.
