Its strongest case is for households that regularly make large batches and value repeatable blending and easy cleanup. Its high US price, nearly 15-pound base, sizable footprint, and included 64-ounce jar make it less compelling for occasional single-serving use.
What the Vitamix A3500 includes
The standard US Gold Label package listed by Vitamix includes the motor base, a 64-ounce low-profile Self-Detect container, an S2 low-profile tamper, and a Simply Blending cookbook. Vitamix lists the container as dishwasher-safe. Retailer bundles and colors can differ, so check the specific listing rather than assuming every package has identical contents. These specifications describe a counter-oriented appliance, not a compact personal blender. The low-profile jar is designed to fit under many kitchen cabinets, but measure your available space and account for the machine’s footprint and weight before buying.
How well does the A3500 blend?
Smoothies and fibrous ingredients
RTINGS reports that its tested 64-ounce configuration produced a very smooth kale blend using one Smoothie program, including on a small batch of fibrous ingredients. Tom’s Guide, in a hands-on review published April 19, 2024, also reported smooth smoothies in less than a minute. Those are favorable results for common blending jobs, but they are observations from specific reviews rather than a promise that every recipe or quantity will turn out identically. Ice, oat milk, hummus, and nut butter
Tom’s Guide reported consistent crushed ice and easy cleanup, but less satisfying results for oat milk and hummus. It also reported an overheating smell during a nut-butter attempt. That spread of results matters: the A3500 appears well suited to smoothies and ice in those reviewers’ tests, but the reviews do not establish equally strong performance across every thick or emulsified recipe. If nut butter, hummus, or homemade oat milk is a main reason you are buying, treat those specific reports as a reason to compare recipe-focused evidence rather than relying on the blender’s overall reputation.
Controls and everyday operation
The A3500 combines manual control with automation. Vitamix lists touchscreen controls, variable speed, pulse, a timer, self-cleaning, and four automatic programs. That gives you the choice of setting the speed yourself or using a preset for a repeatable routine.

Vitamix says the motor base can read the size of a compatible container and adjust program settings and maximum blending times accordingly. This is a manufacturer description of the Self-Detect system, not an independent performance finding. Vitamix’s A3500 Gold Label product page
The automatic programs and timer are useful if you want to start a blend and follow a consistent cycle. They are less of a draw if you prefer a simpler dial-based blender and expect to control every blend manually. The A3500 still offers variable speed and pulse; its premium is partly for adding the screen, automation, timer, and compatibility to that manual control.

Is the 64-ounce jar too large for small batches?
The included 64-ounce jar is convenient for multiple servings and family-size batches. A single-serving user may find a full-size vessel less convenient to handle, store, and clean than a personal blending cup. RTINGS found good results on a small fibrous-ingredient batch in the 64-ounce setup it tested, so the large jar does not mean every small batch fails; however, its review tested only the included jar, not the optional containers.
RTINGS identifies separately sold Ascent options including a 48-ounce container, a 48-ounce dry-grains container, a 20-ounce blending cup, and an 8-ounce blending bowl. Vitamix lists the A3500 as compatible with Ascent and Venturist products and says the base recognizes compatible Self-Detect containers. Confirm exact model fit, what is included, and current availability before purchasing an accessory. Results reported for the tested 64-ounce jar should not be assumed to apply to these other vessels. Price, warranty, and optional food processor
On the US Vitamix pages accessed for this review, the A3500 Gold Label product page listed $699.95. A separate US shop listing showed $599.95 after a $100 reduction and noted that the selected color was temporarily out of stock. Vitamix lists a 10-year full warranty for the A3500. The separately listed Gourmet SmartPrep system includes a 12-cup Food Processor Attachment with a work bowl, pushers, reversible slicing and shredding discs, a multi-use blade, julienne and veggie-stick discs, and storage components. Vitamix lists a three-year full warranty for that attachment. It is an optional food-preparation add-on for slicing, shredding, julienning, and related tasks—not a requirement for blending. Who should buy the A3500?
- A good fit: You make large batches, want a 64-ounce pitcher, and will use the combination of manual speed control, four programs, timer, and self-cleaning.
- Consider a different setup: You mostly blend one serving at a time and do not want to buy an optional smaller container.
- Compare carefully: Your priority recipes are oat milk, hummus, or nut butter, where Tom’s Guide reported drawbacks in its tests.
- Check the value: You can get many of the A3500’s practical benefits only if you value its specific automation and Ascent container compatibility enough to justify the price over a simpler blender.
For the US North American model, Vitamix lists the A3500 under Ascent and states compatibility with Ascent and Venturist products. RTINGS notes that the European product is sold as the A3500i and has a slightly larger, two-liter main jar.
