You generally can’t install Xfinity Stream as a native app on a Vizio Smart TV: Vizio is not listed among the TV platforms in Xfinity’s current supported-device requirements. You can still watch by casting from a compatible phone or tablet, or by connecting an Xfinity-eligible Roku player to the TV. Which option works depends on your Vizio model, software, source device, account, and the content you want to watch.
Can you download Xfinity Stream on a Vizio TV?
Xfinity’s current supported-platform requirements include Roku but do not list Vizio. So there is no supported native Xfinity Stream app to install from the Vizio app catalog. The practical alternatives are to cast compatible content from a mobile device or run the app on a supported external streaming player.
Choose between casting and a Roku player

Option 1: Cast Xfinity Stream from a phone or tablet
Xfinity says Xfinity Stream content can be cast to devices capable of Chromecast or Apple AirPlay. Vizio’s 2023 Smart TV platform manual documents Chromecast built-in and AirPlay mirroring, but that does not establish support on every Vizio model or software version. Check your TV’s documentation and settings for the receiver method you intend to use.
- Install the Xfinity Stream app on a supported phone or tablet and sign in with the credentials for your Xfinity service.
- Connect the phone or tablet and Vizio TV to the appropriate network for the casting method you are using.
- Open the content in Xfinity Stream and look for the casting or AirPlay control. Select the Vizio TV if it appears.
- If the TV does not appear or the content will not play, confirm that the specific TV supports the chosen method and check the app, device, account, and network. Available controls and content can vary by setup.
Xfinity’s casting guidance is broad; it does not guarantee that every combination of TV, mobile device, app version, account, and content will work.

Option 2: Use an eligible Roku player
Roku is a supported TV platform for Xfinity Stream, but Xfinity does not promise compatibility with every Roku player. Check its current device and operating-system requirements before buying or setting one up; the Xfinity channel is available only on eligible devices.
- Connect an eligible Roku player to an HDMI input on the Vizio TV.
- Turn on the TV and select the HDMI input used by the Roku.
- Connect the Roku to your network and complete its initial setup.
- Open the Roku channel store and install Xfinity Stream if the player is eligible.
- Launch Xfinity Stream and follow Xfinity’s current activation prompts to sign in.
Check plan and feature restrictions
Xfinity says availability varies by service, and some TV use is limited to in-home viewing for Xfinity TV customers with internet. Check the conditions for your plan and the specific feature or content you want before troubleshooting a device connection. Xfinity also cautions that partner-device access may not include every feature available through an X1 box, so a Roku app experience should not be assumed to be identical to X1.
