You can expand text that is visibly cut off in a Marketplace listing, but Facebook does not document an official control for revealing information it has withheld. To get missing details, review the listing and seller’s available profile and ratings, then ask the seller through Marketplace messaging.
What does “hidden information” mean on Facebook Marketplace?
People often use “hidden information” to mean contact details—such as a phone number or email address—that they expect to find in a listing. Facebook’s Help Center pages cited here do not define that label or document a feature for revealing withheld contact details. A claim that a browser trick or extension can reveal them is not the same as a Facebook-supported method.
How to see more information in a Marketplace listing
- Open the listing. Look for a visible “See more” control or description text that is cut off. Expand it to read the rest of the text the seller has made visible; this does not reveal information Facebook has withheld.
- Review the listing. Check the available photos and item details for the information you need.
- Check the seller’s profile and ratings. Open the seller’s Marketplace profile and review any ratings available to you. Facebook documents these as supported features, though availability can vary by device or browser. See Facebook’s Help Center guidance on viewing Marketplace profiles and ratings and its shopping safety tips.
- Ask for missing details. Use the listing’s Marketplace message option to ask a specific question—for example, whether the item is still available or whether the seller can share a needed contact detail. Keep initial contact in Marketplace and follow Facebook’s shopping-safety guidance when arranging a purchase.
Why can’t I see the seller’s phone number?
The listing may not include a phone number in the text visible to you. Facebook’s available guidance does not establish that there is an official way to uncover contact details that are not shown. If the number is important, ask the seller through Marketplace rather than relying on a supposed reveal technique.
Your own Facebook privacy settings are separate: they let you manage your information and how people find or contact your account, not access another person’s withheld details. Facebook notes that these controls can vary by profile type. See Facebook’s privacy settings guidance.

What if Marketplace messaging is unavailable?
Facebook lists several possible reasons you may be unable to message on Marketplace, including regional differences, message limits, or removed Marketplace access. These restrictions do not provide another way to reveal listing information. Check your Marketplace access status; Facebook says an appeal may be available for some access decisions. See the Messenger Help Center’s guidance on Marketplace messages.

Be cautious with tools advertised as ways to reveal hidden Marketplace details. A Chrome Web Store listing for an independent extension called Marketplace Phone Extractor claims it loads a mobile view and extracts phone numbers included in the publicly rendered listing. The listing says the extension is not affiliated with Facebook or Meta. Those are the developer’s claims, not official Facebook guidance or independent verification; they do not establish that the extension works as promised or can reveal information Facebook has withheld. Installing an extension also means trusting its developer and reviewing the access it requests before use. The listing is at Chrome Web Store: Marketplace Phone Extractor.
