To make stock photos and video clips feel like part of the same project, choose assets with a compatible look before editing, then correct technical differences before applying a shared creative style. Compare lighting, framing, composition, color, and mood against a small set of visual references. In Premiere Pro, Color Match and adjustment layers can help unify video clips, but review the result: no preset or automatic tool guarantees an exact match between different sources or between still images and moving footage.
Set a visual target before you browse
Collect a few reference images that represent the look you want. Adobe Stock’s contributor guidance recommends mood boards and references for subject mood, lighting, poses, angles, and composition (Adobe Stock photography and illustration guidance).
Turn the references into a short checklist. Note whether the project should feel warm or cool, soft or contrasty, saturated or muted, and whether subjects are close-up or distant. Include light direction, background character, and the overall mood. A concise target makes it easier to reject assets that would need substantial correction to fit.
Choose photos and clips that already look compatible
Compare shortlisted assets on the traits most visible when they appear together. These practical comparison points draw on Adobe’s mood-board and color-correction guidance (Adobe Stock reference-image guidance; Premiere Pro color correction and grading).

- Lighting: Look for a similar direction and softness of light, and a plausible match in the apparent time of day or environment.
- Framing and composition: Compare shot distance, camera angle, subject position, and background. A close-up portrait and a wide environmental shot can feel unrelated even if their colors match.
- Color: Check white balance, dominant colors, saturation, and contrast.
- Mood and subject treatment: Compare expressions, activity, styling, and the tone conveyed by the subject.
- Editability: Ask whether modest corrections could bring the assets closer without damaging the image or clip.
Color grading can reduce some differences, but it cannot reliably make fundamentally different lighting, angles, backgrounds, or subject presentations feel identical. For a sequence or campaign, group candidates by style, theme, or subject so that related choices are easy to compare. Adobe Stock’s contributor guide says contributors may submit up to three color, style, and composition variations of the same image; that guidance concerns contributor submissions, not a limit on buyers or other stock libraries (Adobe Stock contributor guidance).
Correct technical differences before styling
First bring each asset toward a plausible, consistent baseline. Correct white balance and unwanted color casts, then bring exposure and contrast into a compatible range. In Premiere Pro, Lumetri Color’s basic correction controls include temperature, tint, saturation, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks (Adobe’s Premiere Pro color correction and grading guide).

Make these corrections before adding a creative look such as a warm highlight treatment or muted palette. A shared look applied to clips with mismatched technical color can preserve or exaggerate their differences instead of disguising them. Adobe’s color-correction tutorial notes that matching colors from one shot to the next can make a difference to the audience experience (Adobe Premiere Pro color correction tutorial).
Match video clips in Premiere Pro
Premiere Pro’s Lumetri Color panel can use a reference frame to guide a match between clips, including footage recorded with different cameras or under different lighting. Adobe’s January 5, 2026 tutorial describes this sequence (Adobe’s Color Match tutorial):

- Inside Camera Box: FUJIFILM NP-W126 Battery Pack, Headphone Adapter, Shoulder Strap, LH-XF27 Lens Hood, LHCP-27 Lens Hood Cap, Cloth Wrap.
- Select the clip you want to adjust.
- Open the Lumetri Color panel and go to Color Wheels & Match.
- Choose Comparison View.
- Select a suitable frame as the reference.
- Apply Match, then inspect the adjusted clip and refine it if needed.
Choose a reference frame with lighting and subject conditions relevant to the shot being corrected. Treat the result as assistance rather than a guarantee: inspect skin, shadows, highlights, and backgrounds for unwanted shifts, and adjust the correction where the match looks wrong.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Apply a consistent look and review the sequence
After the individual clips are corrected, use a shared creative grade to establish the project’s overall style. Adobe’s travel-video tutorial recommends using an adjustment layer to apply consistent grading across a film. It also points to Premiere’s existing LUT library as a quicker starting look (Adobe’s travel-video color-grading tutorial).

A LUT or shared grade is a starting point, not a substitute for correction and inspection. Tune the result with the available controls, then watch the sequence at its intended playback size and compare still photos and clips side by side. A still-photo preset should not be assumed to transfer identically to video: the cited Adobe tutorials describe color correction and grading workflows, but do not establish exact compatibility across editing applications or media types.
