Yes. You can read Kindle books on a BOOX Palma or another compatible Android e-reader by installing Amazon’s Kindle app and signing in to the Amazon account that owns the books. Amazon’s stated minimum is Android 10.0; BOOX lists the original Palma with Android 11 and the Palma 2 with Android 13. Kindle’s DRM rules still determine whether a book can be opened only in the Kindle app or downloaded for another reader.
How to read Kindle books on a BOOX Palma
- Connect the Palma to Wi-Fi and open the available Android app store. Amazon’s instructions say to search for Kindle in the preferred Android app store; BOOX says Google Play is installed and activated on most currently sold models. See BOOX’s Google Play guidance.
- Search for “Kindle,” install Amazon’s app, and open it.
- Sign in with the Amazon account that contains your Kindle library. Your eligible books should appear in the app for download and reading.
Amazon states that the Kindle app for Android runs on Android OS 10.0 or higher. Its Android installation instructions also direct users to their preferred app store. For earlier BOOX devices, Google Play activation can depend on the model and production time. BOOX’s general guidance is to restart after activation and allow 6–24 hours; this is not a Palma-specific guarantee.
Does Kindle work on the original Palma and Palma 2?
Both published Palma OS versions exceed Amazon’s stated Android 10.0 minimum. That is a comparison of the manufacturers’ published specifications, not a guarantee that every app build, firmware release, feature, book, or regional availability will be identical.

OS version is only one part of the check. Confirm that the device can access Google Play or another suitable app store and that the Kindle app is available for that device. An Android version above the current minimum does not guarantee future app support.

Kindle app versus BOOX’s native reader: the DRM difference
There are two separate ways to read: use the Kindle app, or open a portable EPUB or PDF in another reading app. A file format that BOOX’s native reader supports does not bypass Amazon’s DRM.
- DRM-protected Kindle books: Amazon says these are restricted to Kindle apps and devices. Read them in the Kindle app rather than trying to open their files in BOOX’s native reader.
- Confirmed DRM-free Kindle books: Under Amazon KDP’s policy effective January 20, 2026, verified purchasers can download eligible DRM-free books as EPUB or PDF for use on non-Kindle devices. This option is title-specific; it does not mean every purchased book is DRM-free, and it does not make Kindle Unlimited loans exportable. See Amazon’s DRM policy for the terms.
BOOX’s product pages list formats such as EPUB, PDF, AZW3, and MOBI for its reading software, but those format capabilities do not remove DRM restrictions. Use an EPUB or PDF elsewhere only when Amazon identifies the book as DRM-free and makes the download available.

What if the Kindle app is unavailable?
Amazon also offers Kindle for Web at read.amazon.com. It provides a browser-based reading option, but Amazon does not promise that every book feature or every browser-and-device combination is identical to the native app.
BOOX describes APK installation from the web or a computer as another way to install apps in its app installation guidance. Prefer an official app store when one is available; do not assume an APK from an unverified source is safe or compatible.

Are all Kindle books and features supported?
No single compatibility statement covers every title and feature. Kindle formats vary by reading surface. For example, Amazon’s format comparison says Print Replica books are not compatible with Kindle e-reader devices and do not support features such as text resizing. Check the book’s format and the app or browser you plan to use rather than assuming the same experience across every Kindle device, Android app, and browser.
