It suits players who want survival action and a ruined-world atmosphere, but it is a looser match for Metro Exodus than another story-led shooter.

Fallout 4: open-world role-playing and build choices
Fallout 4 sends you out from Vault 111 to explore post-apocalyptic Massachusetts, improve your armor and weapons, and develop a character in an open-world RPG. You can play in either first or third person. Pick it for exploration and role-playing progression rather than the tighter survival-horror focus of Metro Exodus. Confirm your local store’s PS5 access and edition details; a PS4/PS5 editorial listing does not by itself establish that a native PS5 build is available.
Adjacent pick: Pacific Drive is not a shooter
Pacific Drive is worth considering for its post-apocalyptic setting and survival loop, but its core activity is first-person driving, not shooting. You scavenge materials, upgrade a station wagon, and make runs into the Olympic Exclusion Zone in the Pacific Northwest. Is Metro 2039 available on PS5?
No. As of October 4, 2026, Metro 2039 is upcoming, not an available alternative. In a PlayStation Blog announcement, 4A Games Head of Brand Robbie Cooke said, “Today we’re excited to finally confirm that Metro 2039 launches February 4 2027*.” The asterisk refers to a February 5 launch in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The announcement describes a solo, story-driven FPS and discusses radiation and equipment management, as well as PS5 and PS5 Pro ray tracing with a 60fps Performance Mode. Those are announced plans and features, not confirmation of a released game or final performance.
