The TUXEDO Gemini 17 Gen4 is a large, high-performance Linux-capable laptop designed to replace a desktop at a workstation or gaming setup. The family includes an Intel Core i9-14900HX model with RTX 5070 Ti graphics and a later AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX model with RTX 5060 graphics. Both have a 17.3-inch 1440p, 240 Hz display, but their graphics, memory ceilings and starting prices differ. TUXEDO’s published prices start at €1,805 for Intel and €1,764 for AMD, before VAT and import duties, so “affordable” depends on the final regional price and configuration.
What launched, and when?
TUXEDO announced the Intel Gemini 17 Gen4 on December 5, 2025, positioning it as a 17.3-inch desktop-replacement notebook. The launch configuration pairs an Intel Core i9-14900HX with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. TUXEDO’s announcement and product specifications provide the primary details; Linuxiac’s report also dates the launch to December 5, 2025.
TUXEDO added a separate AMD configuration page on March 17, 2026. It pairs a Ryzen 9 9955HX with an RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. The AMD model is part of the same Gemini 17 Gen4 family, not the same configuration with a different processor. TUXEDO’s AMD product page describes its specifications and positioning.
What are the Gemini 17 Gen4 specs?

What is the difference between the Intel and AMD Gemini 17 Gen4?
Choose Intel for the stronger listed graphics configuration
The Intel version is the more GPU-oriented option in TUXEDO’s comparison: its RTX 5070 Ti has 12 GB of VRAM, versus the AMD model’s RTX 5060. TUXEDO’s AMD page characterizes the 5070 Ti as approximately 45% faster than the 5060. That is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independently reproduced benchmark, so it should not be treated as a guaranteed performance uplift in every application or game.

Choose AMD for a CPU-focused configuration and higher memory ceiling
TUXEDO frames the AMD model as a CPU-focused workstation option and states sustained CPU power up to 110 W. It allows up to 128 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, compared with up to 96 GB for Intel. That higher ceiling may matter for workloads with large working sets, while the Intel configuration’s stronger listed GPU is the clearer fit when graphics performance and VRAM are priorities.
Compare the exact workload and build, not just the launch price
The AMD base price is €41 lower than Intel’s listed base price, but the two base configurations also use different GPUs. Compare the configured system you would actually buy, including memory, SSD capacity, required ports and external displays. Neither starting price establishes a tax-inclusive or delivered-cost advantage in a particular country.

Does the Gemini 17 Gen4 support Linux?
TUXEDO lists TUXEDO OS and Ubuntu 24.04 as operating-system options for the configurations, alongside Windows 11. Its Intel product information also describes preinstalled drivers, TUXEDO software, Linux-trained customer support and optional full-disk encryption for Linux installations. These are manufacturer support claims; the listed options do not constitute independent compatibility testing of every application or peripheral.
Is it a desktop replacement in practical terms?
By specification and positioning, yes: the machine combines a large high-refresh display, high-end mobile processors and NVIDIA laptop graphics with a broad set of wired connections. TUXEDO calls it a desktop-replacement notebook, but that label does not mean it is physically equivalent to a desktop tower or designed for effortless daily commuting.

The chassis weighs 2.8 kg and is just under 2.9 cm thick, according to TUXEDO. The company describes it as portable between locations rather than intended for constant travel. That size and weight are the main trade-off for having a powerful computer and 17.3-inch screen in one unit.
For a fixed desk setup, the listed connections include HDMI 2.1 and two USB-C DisplayPort outputs, with support for up to three external displays. This can make the laptop a practical hub for a multi-monitor workstation, though the exact display arrangement and performance should be checked against the intended monitors and workload.
