The Epson EcoTank ET-1810 can be a strong choice for UK households that print regularly and want to spend less on replacement ink. It is a basic A4 colour printer, not an all-in-one: there is no scanner or copier, no screen and no automatic two-sided printing. Its low ink use is attractive, but whether it is worth the purchase price depends on how much you print and whether you can live with those omissions.
What the Epson EcoTank ET-1810 offers
Epson UK describes the ET-1810 as a home-use A4 printer with four-colour dye ink and a Micro Piezo print head. Its functions are print-only; it cannot scan or copy. It has Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and USB connectivity, a 100-sheet rear paper feed and a 30-sheet output tray. Two-sided printing is manual, so you must turn and reload the paper yourself. Borderless printing is listed for photos up to 10 × 15 cm, not larger formats. Epson UK’s ET-1810 specifications list a maximum resolution of 5,760 × 1,440 dpi and ISO print speeds of 10 pages per minute in monochrome and 5 in colour; actual job times vary with content and conditions.
What comes in the box
Epson lists the printer, power cable, setup guide, warranty document and four 65 ml ink bottles: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Its UK product page lists a 12-month carry-in warranty or 30,000 pages. Check the current terms for your country and purchase, since warranty coverage can vary.

Its refillable ink tanks avoid the frequent cartridge purchases common with conventional inkjet printers. Epson UK lists estimated yields of 3,600 black pages and 6,500 colour pages from the bottles supplied with the printer. Its product description separately states 4,500 black and 7,500 colour pages from one replacement ink set. These are different figures: the lower included-bottle estimate reflects ink used during initial setup and priming, according to Tech Advisor’s explanation. Epson’s UK product information presents the yields as estimates, not guaranteed page counts.

- INNOVATIVE CARTRIDGE-FREE PRINTING — No more dealing with tiny, expensive ink cartridges; With this wireless printer each ink bottle set is equivalent to about 80 individual cartridges²
- LESS FREQUENT INK REPLACEMENT — Replacement ink bottles don't have to be changed nearly as often as ink cartridges¹; Color printer lets you print up to 4,500 black and white pages and 7,200 color³
- PRINT FOR LONGER — Up to 2 years of ink in the box⁴ (and with every replacement ink set) for fewer out-of-ink frustrations; This home printer keeps printing longer
- HIGH CAPACITY INK TANKS – Printer, scanner and copier utilizes Epson’s exclusive EcoFit ink bottles, making the refill process easy and worry-free
- ZERO CARTRIDGE WASTE — By using an Epson EcoTank printer you can help reduce the amount of cartridge waste ending up in landfills; Cartridge-free printer utilizes ink bottles for more convenience and less waste
Epson’s regional methodology notes say yields are based on the ISO/IEC 24712 test pattern and can vary substantially with images, settings, temperature, humidity, infrequent use and ink distribution. All colours are used for printing and maintenance, so all must be available; Epson also notes that an extra black bottle may be needed to reach stated colour yields. The manufacturer’s figures are useful for comparing expected capacity, but they do not promise how many pages a particular household will get. Epson Australia’s methodology and specifications discuss these qualifications and identify that region’s replacement ink as series 522.
Buy the UK ink series
For UK buyers, Epson UK lists EcoTank 104 ink bottles. The 522 series shown on Epson Australia’s page is a regional variant and should not be substituted in UK shopping advice. Verify the bottle series against Epson UK’s current compatibility information before ordering. Epson UK’s product page is the relevant reference for the UK model.
Ink is not the whole cost
Tech Advisor’s review calculated historical ink-only costs of about 0.21p per black page and 0.12p per colour page at 5% coverage, using bottle prices observed at the time. It extrapolated about 4.21p for a solid A4 black page and 2.5p for a full-coverage A4 colour page by multiplying those estimates by twenty. These are historical reviewer calculations, not current prices or typical costs for every document. The reviewer notes that heavier coverage and absorbent paper can increase ink consumption, and that paper may become the largest running expense. Cleaning and maintenance use ink too, while paper choice and printer lifespan affect the overall cost. Tech Advisor’s review also reported historical prices of £36.49 for a refill set and £9.49 for an individual bottle; these should not be treated as current quotes.

Print quality and speed: what reviewers found
Expert Reviews’ 2022 assessment described text as crisp at normal reading distance and photos as having good dark tones, while pale tones were less convincing than on six-colour rivals. That makes the ET-1810 more naturally suited to everyday documents and occasional small photos than to buyers prioritising richer photo reproduction. These observations are from that outlet’s review, not a new test. Expert Reviews’ ET-1810 review also recorded 14 seconds to the first page in its own test; that is one outlet’s result, not a guarantee for every device, connection or print job.
Do not assume that the small-photo borderless feature means every print is borderless. Tech Advisor reported a small border on its A4 print test despite the model’s support for borderless prints up to 10 × 15 cm. Tech Advisor’s review is the source for that observation.
Who should buy the ET-1810?
It makes sense if you print regularly and need only printing
- You print often enough that low-cost refill ink matters more than the printer’s higher initial outlay compared with some cartridge models.
- You already have access to a scanner, or do not need to scan or copy.
- You can accept manual paper turning for two-sided jobs and do not require a built-in screen.
- Your photo needs are occasional and fit within the listed 10 × 15 cm borderless limit.
Look elsewhere if the missing features are essential
- Choose a multifunction printer if you need integrated scanning or copying.
- Compare six-colour printers if pale tones and richer photo output are a priority. Expert Reviews points to the Canon Pixma G650 as a six-colour alternative and the Canon Pixma TS8350 for photo quality, but the available comparison does not establish current prices or a complete like-for-like assessment. Expert Reviews’ alternatives are starting points for comparison, not a current market ranking.
- Consider a model with automatic duplexing if you regularly print double-sided and do not want to flip pages manually.
- Compare other printers if you need borderless output larger than 10 × 15 cm.
Is it a runaway winner for running costs?
The evidence supports the ET-1810 as a compelling low-ink-cost option for regular home printing, but it does not establish that it is the cheapest printer to own across the current market. The right comparison is total cost over your expected ownership period: purchase price, ink for your print volume, paper, maintenance and how long the printer lasts. A low price per page matters most when you print enough pages to offset the purchase cost; occasional users may not benefit as much from buying an ink-tank model. The available reviews do not provide a current, complete comparison against equivalent alternatives, so the “runaway winner” claim is best understood as a strong case for a particular kind of buyer—not a universal ranking.

UK price and support details
Epson UK displayed the ET-1810 at £139.99, reduced from an original listed price of £189.99, when its product page was accessed in 2026. Price and stock can change, so check the live listing before buying. Epson UK’s product page also states that it will provide security updates for seven years from purchase; confirm the current policy and applicable terms with Epson.
Tech Advisor reported that this model did not support Epson ReadyPrint unlimited-ink service. That finding comes from its review and should be checked with Epson if the service is a deciding factor, since service availability and model eligibility can change. Tech Advisor’s review also cautions that third-party inks may work but cannot be guaranteed; use compatible ink specified for the UK model if you want to avoid uncertain compatibility.
