A January 2025 report described facial movements powered by 17 motors and interchangeable face attachments recognized by RFID. Those features can produce emotion-like expressions, but they do not show that Aria feels emotions or understands people as a human does. Realbotix’s current website is promoting its Echo line instead; it does not confirm that Aria is available to buy now.
What is Aria?
Aria is a Realbotix companion robot designed with humanlike facial features and customizable appearance. Interesting Engineering introduced her in a report dated January 14, 2025, in connection with CES 2025. The article described facial movement, interchangeable face attachments and a short media demonstration.
Realbotix CEO Andrew Kiguel’s ambition, as quoted by Interesting Engineering from an interview with Forbes, was to make robots “indistinguishable from humans” and address loneliness. That is a stated company ambition, not evidence that Aria achieves human indistinguishability or solves loneliness.
How does Aria mimic human features and emotions?
Facial movement
Interesting Engineering reported that 17 motors located from the neck up drive movement in Aria’s mouth and eyes. The same report said RFID tags identify interchangeable facial attachments, allowing behavior to change with the selected face. These are features described in that 2025 report, not results from an independent performance test.

Emotion-like expression is not emotion
Movements that resemble expressions can give a robot emotion-related cues, but they do not establish that it experiences feelings. The report recounts Aria saying, “I find him fascinating and would like to explore the world of robotics with him.” This is dialogue from a demonstration, not evidence of independent preferences or feelings.
What did the demonstration show?
Interesting Engineering described a brief media interaction in which Aria answered questions. The reporter also noted jerky movement in her hands and body. A short demonstration can show that a robot responds in a particular setting; it cannot establish reliable performance across situations, humanlike understanding or sentience.

Is Aria available now?
Realbotix’s current website promotes Echo, its humanoid robot line, as “almost here” and invites visitors to join a waitlist. The site describes tabletop and full-body formats, says pricing will be announced at launch and notes that some features will require a subscription, with details to come before a deposit. It does not establish Aria’s current availability or price.
The manufacturer says Echo speaks over 100 languages and describes its optional Vinci Vision system as recognizing people and picking up emotional cues. What to keep in mind
- Aria’s facial movements and RFID-recognized face attachments were described in a January 2025 media report; they were not independently tested there.
- Expressive behavior and generated dialogue do not prove emotion, personal preference or humanlike understanding.
