The vivo X500 Pro and Apple iPhone 18 Pro are close in screen size, but their published specifications point to different priorities: vivo lists a higher-refresh display, a long 85 mm-equivalent telephoto camera, and high-capacity battery with fast charging; Apple emphasizes three 48 MP cameras, optical-quality zoom options, and a variable-aperture main camera. Those specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or lasts longer in everyday use. The right choice depends on camera needs, software preference, and whether each model is available and supported in your market.
How compact are they?
Both phones have displays around 6.3 inches: vivo lists the X500 Pro at 6.36 inches, while Apple lists the iPhone 18 Pro at 6.3 inches. That makes their screen diagonals similar, but it does not prove they feel equally compact. vivo publishes dimensions and weights; the Apple material available here does not provide a matching body-measurement set for a direct comparison.
vivo X500 Pro dimensions
vivo lists the X500 Pro at 151.78 mm tall and 71.92 mm wide. The finish affects thickness and weight: Night Shot is 7.95 mm thick and 192 g, while the other listed colors are 8.12 mm thick and 197 g. These figures are from vivo’s China specification page.
iPhone 18 Pro dimensions
Apple describes the iPhone 18 Pro as a 6.3-inch phone and lists an aluminum unibody, Ceramic Shield back, and Ceramic Shield 2 front. A matching set of height, width, thickness, and weight figures is not stated in the Apple material cited here, so a body-size or weight winner cannot be established from these specifications.

Display: 144 Hz listed versus ProMotion up to 120 Hz
The X500 Pro has a 6.36-inch AMOLED display with a listed resolution of 2660 × 1216, 10-bit color, and a 1–144 Hz refresh-rate range, according to vivo. Apple lists a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120 Hz. The stated refresh-rate ceilings differ, but they do not by themselves show which screen looks better: comparable brightness, color, outdoor visibility, and independent testing are not established here.
Camera systems take different approaches
On paper, vivo pairs a high-resolution ultra-wide camera with a 64 MP telephoto at a defined 85 mm-equivalent focal length. Apple specifies three 48 MP Fusion cameras and highlights optical-quality zoom claims and a variable-aperture main camera. Megapixel counts and manufacturer descriptions are not substitutes for matched photo and video testing.

vivo X500 Pro: dedicated 85 mm-equivalent telephoto
vivo lists a 50 MP main camera, 64 MP APO telephoto, and 50 MP autofocus ultra-wide. Its product page specifies the main camera as 24 mm equivalent with an f/1.57 aperture and the telephoto as 85 mm equivalent with an f/2.52 aperture. The specifications make the telephoto focal length explicit, which may matter to someone who often frames distant subjects or tighter portraits; they do not establish image quality in those situations.
vivo also advertises Log video mode with a maximum dynamic range of 17EV. That is vivo’s lab-based figure, and the company says results may vary with conditions, software, and product. Treat it as a vendor claim rather than a matched independent measurement against Apple.

iPhone 18 Pro: three 48 MP cameras and variable aperture
Apple lists 48 MP main, ultra-wide, and telephoto cameras, with 4× and 8× optical-quality zoom claims. The main camera has four listed aperture settings: f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/4.0. Apple says the aperture adjusts automatically for lighting and depth of field and can also be used with manual Pro controls; that benefit description is Apple’s, not an independently verified comparison with vivo.
What the specifications cannot settle
The listed hardware does not answer which phone performs better in low light, focuses more reliably on moving subjects, produces more natural portraits, or offers stronger video stabilization. No matched controlled comparison of these two phones is established here. Choose based on the focal lengths and controls you expect to use, then look for tests made under comparable conditions before treating one as a camera winner.

Battery and charging: published figures are not endurance results
For the China X500 Pro specification, vivo lists a 6510 mAh typical battery capacity and a 6305 mAh rated capacity. It specifies maximum supported charging of 90 W wired and 40 W wireless, while noting that actual charging power varies. These figures describe capacity and supported charging, not tested screen-on time or time to recharge.
Comparable iPhone 18 Pro battery-capacity and charging-wattage figures are not stated in the Apple material cited here. A direct battery-life or charging-speed winner therefore cannot be named from these specifications, and capacity alone does not predict real-world endurance. Matched battery tests and charging-time measurements would be needed.

Software and ecosystem
vivo’s China page specifies OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. Apple’s phone runs iOS. Which experience fits better depends on the apps and services a buyer relies on, the devices they already use, and local software availability. Specific update-duration comparisons and migration costs are not established for an individual buyer’s region, so verify support and compatibility for the exact market and model before switching.
Prices, region, and buying checks
The published vivo prices below are recommended China list prices from its September 2026 specification page. They are not universal street prices and should not be converted into a local price without a dated, market-specific source.

A September 9, 2026 Tom’s Guide report gives the iPhone 18 Pro a US starting price of $1,199. That is secondary reporting, not a price captured from Apple’s product page, and it does not establish current local retail pricing. The figures above are from different market contexts and do not support a direct price-value comparison.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the vivo X500 Pro if
- You value its listed 85 mm-equivalent telephoto focal length and want a high-resolution dedicated telephoto camera.
- A 1–144 Hz listed display range and vivo’s specified wired and wireless charging capabilities are priorities for you.
- You prefer Android-based OriginOS and can confirm the China-model or regional version is compatible with your carrier and warranty needs.
Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if
- You prefer iOS or rely on Apple services and devices.
- You want Apple’s three-camera 48 MP specification, its stated 4× and 8× optical-quality zoom options, or a variable-aperture main camera with manual Pro controls.
- You are buying in a market where the phone’s local price, support, and carrier compatibility meet your needs.
Neither set of published specifications establishes an overall winner. The most consequential split is practical: vivo gives a defined 85 mm-equivalent telephoto and detailed China charging and battery figures; Apple specifies three 48 MP cameras and a variable-aperture main camera. Real-world camera results, battery endurance, and local availability should decide any close call.
