First, refresh the betting app and check its balance and transaction history; do not immediately try the payment again. Then compare the app’s status with your bank or wallet record. A pending bank entry after a failed deposit is different from money deducted but not credited, and both differ from a withdrawal the operator has approved but your bank has not yet received.
Identify which payment problem you have
Compare the betting app’s status—such as attempted, completed, approved, or processed—with the bank or wallet status—not listed, pending, posted, or reversed. The next step depends on the direction of payment and where it appears to be delayed.

Check the app and payment record before taking action
- Refresh the app. Sign in through the official app or site, refresh the balance, and open the transaction history.
- Record the details. Note the amount, date and time, payment method, app status, bank or wallet status, and any transaction or reference number. Save relevant screenshots or statements for your records.
- Do not repeat a deposit yet. First establish whether the original attempt completed, failed, or remains pending. Virgin Bet warns that retrying before refreshing may create a duplicate transaction: Virgin Bet: Why is my deposit not showing on my account?
If a deposit is pending at the bank but missing from the app
Check the operator’s transaction history and payment-specific instructions. DraftKings says successful deposits appear in the account’s available balance and transaction history; unsuccessful attempts do not appear there as completed deposits. Its US guidance says a failed attempt may still appear as pending on the bank statement and may clear in 3–5 business days. That is DraftKings’ estimate for its guidance, not a universal banking deadline: DraftKings: How do pending transactions affect my DraftKings account balance?
Follow the relevant operator’s instructions and wait for its stated release period. If the pending entry posts as a completed deduction, or the operator’s stated period passes without resolution, contact the operator with your recorded details.

If money was deducted but the deposit was not credited
Contact the operator through the app or a verified help-centre address. Give support the transaction amount, date, payment method, and reference number if available. Submit only the evidence requested, using the operator’s authenticated upload process.
For example, BetMGM UK asks customers whose money was deducted but not credited to provide proof showing their name, account number, payment-method logo, transaction reference, and date, using its secure upload process: BetMGM UK: Where is my deposit? Requirements vary by operator, so confirm what is needed before sending documents.

If an approved withdrawal has not arrived
Check the withdrawal’s exact status in the app and compare the elapsed time with the operator’s stated processing estimate. An operator’s approval does not necessarily mean the receiving bank has completed the transfer.
Virgin Bet says approved withdrawals typically take 1–5 business days to clear, subject to the provider. After five full business days, it asks customers to contact support with transaction details and a bank statement; it also says customers may request an Acquirer Reference Number (ARN), which can help the bank trace the withdrawal. If support provides an ARN or another payment trace reference for your payment method, give it to your bank’s payments team and ask it to trace the transfer. A reference available on one payment rail may not apply to another.
Handle requests for identity or payment documents safely
Operators may need checks for legal, fraud-prevention, or money-laundering reasons. For UK Gambling Commission-regulated operators, the Commission says information should normally be requested at the earliest reasonable opportunity, while recognizing that new checks may be needed when legal obligations or circumstances could not reasonably have been identified earlier. It also says customers should generally be given reasons for a delay, except where disclosure could risk tipping someone off or prejudice an investigation: UK Gambling Commission: Key issues and our expectations concerning account withdrawals.

- Ask which documents are needed and why, then use only the operator’s authenticated upload channel.
- Do not send card details, passwords, one-time passcodes, or unredacted financial records through unsolicited messages or unofficial links.
- Verify the support route independently through the official app or website before uploading transaction evidence.
Escalate through the operator’s complaint process
- Contact support first. Provide the timeline, payment details, evidence requested, and the outcome you want.
- Make a formal complaint if the issue remains unresolved. Follow the operator’s published process and keep the case number and correspondence.
- Use the regulator or dispute route for your location. Rules and complaint bodies depend on where you live and which licensed entity operates the app.
In Great Britain, the UK Gambling Commission advises customers to complain directly to the gambling business and follow its complaints process. The Commission says it does not resolve individual complaints or recover a customer’s money; it may use customer information to inform its regulatory work: UK Gambling Commission: Our most common enquiries from gambling customers. Outside Great Britain, identify the regulator and any applicable dispute-resolution route in your own jurisdiction.
Know what UK deposit-withdrawal rules cover
For operators regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, customers must generally be allowed to withdraw their deposit balance at any time, including when a bonus is pending or active, except where a general regulatory obligation requires otherwise. Deposit and bonus balances must be displayed separately, and wagering requirements must not be applied to play using the customer’s deposit balance. Withdrawal fees are permitted only when fair, transparent, and cost-reflective under the regulator’s conditions: UK Gambling Commission: Restrictions on withdrawing deposit and deposit winnings.

These rules concern funds in the operator account. They do not mean that a bank-side pending authorization has already been transferred to the operator, and they should not be assumed to apply outside the UK regulatory context.
