Choose the Mini 5 Pro for image quality and planned aerial footage
The Mini 5 Pro’s 1-inch, 50 MP camera and 3-axis mechanical gimbal make it the stronger choice when the footage itself is the priority. It can record 4K at up to 120 fps, which supports slow-motion capture, and its larger sensor and higher-resolution stills give it more headroom for detailed aerial photography.
DJI lists omnidirectional vision sensors, forward LiDAR, and a downward infrared sensor for the Mini 5 Pro. Those systems provide more sensing capability than the Neo has, but they do not remove the need to pilot carefully or follow local operating rules.

Choose the Neo for quick personal clips and light carry
The Neo is built around easy, close-range filming rather than maximum camera capability. It weighs approximately 135 g according to DJI, can take off from and land on a palm, and offers app, voice, and intelligent shooting controls. DJI says it recognizes human subjects for palm-control tracking, making it useful for quick clips of yourself or an activity without setting up a conventional controller workflow.
Its camera records 4K at up to 30 fps and takes 12 MP photos. DJI describes the Neo as “ideal for low-altitude filming and close-range human subject filming.” That intended use is a better guide than treating it as a smaller substitute for a more capable aerial camera.

Understand the flight-time figures before comparing them
DJI lists up to 36 minutes for the Mini 5 Pro with its standard battery and separately reports a 21-minute typical-flight result in a specified test. For the Neo, DJI lists approximately 18 minutes maximum, falling to approximately 17 minutes with propeller guards. These figures are not a like-for-like flight test: DJI uses different conditions, and maximum manufacturer figures should be treated as reference points rather than guaranteed time in the air.
For the Neo, DJI documents a model-specific Intelligent Flight Battery and Two-Way Charging Hub for charging and storage across multiple batteries. For the Mini 5 Pro, DJI lists compatible Intelligent Flight Batteries and microSD cards. Check the bundle contents and compatibility before buying; accessories are not necessarily included in every package.

Weight and rules depend on the aircraft configuration and where you fly
DJI gives the Mini 5 Pro’s actual weight as about 249.9 g ± 4 g and advises checking local laws and regulations before flying with either listed battery. The nominal figure should not be treated as a universal regulatory exemption: the stated variation and the rules in your country both matter.
For EU configurations, DJI distinguishes C0 and C1 Mini 5 Pro combos and warns that using the Plus battery on a C0 configuration takes it above the C0 maximum takeoff mass limit. DJI lists the Neo as C0 (EU). These labels do not settle every requirement for every flight; verify the rules for your country, aircraft, battery, and intended operation.

Can the DJI Neo avoid obstacles?
No. DJI’s Neo FAQ states: “DJI Neo does not support obstacle avoidance.” The Mini 5 Pro has the sensing systems DJI lists in its specifications, while the Neo does not offer obstacle avoidance. DJI advises operating the Neo in open areas or within visual line of sight. Its propeller guards are physical protection around the propellers, not a system that detects and avoids objects.

There is no reliable like-for-like price conclusion here: DJI’s Mini 5 Pro store listing is regional, and price, bundles, shipping, and stock vary by market. Compare the actual packages available where you live. The Mini 5 Pro’s additional camera and sensing capability may justify choosing it if those features match your footage needs; the Neo is the more fitting option when light carry and quick self-filming matter more.
