Choose the LEGO PlayStation 72306 if your main draw is the original Sony console and you want a near-life-size display model with a plug-in controller and hidden game references. Pick another set if you would rather display a console-and-TV scene, an Atari with cartridges and a hidden room, a handheld Game Boy, or a build that offers Genesis and Mega Drive versions. None of these is a working game system.
What the LEGO PlayStation set includes
The 18+ LEGO PlayStation 72306 is a 1,911-piece display build of the original console. At 6 cm high, 26 cm wide and 19 cm deep, it is close to 1:1 scale, so plan for a shelf with room for its 26 cm width and 19 cm depth. LEGO’s US product page lists the dimensions and set details.
The model includes a controller that plugs into the console, power and open buttons designed to move, and removable dioramas inspired by Ape Escape and Gran Turismo. Those are display and interactive-style details, not game-playing functions.

Which one should you choose?
Choose PlayStation 72306 for original Sony nostalgia
Its near-life-size scale, recognizable console shape, and small game-inspired dioramas make it the direct choice for someone whose favorite is the original PlayStation. Its dimensions matter: at 26 cm wide, it needs more shelf width than a compact handheld-style display.

- Layered Retro Gaming Lighting: Color-changing illumination adds depth to the gray console and original-style controller while drawing attention to the disc lid, front controls and hidden diorama areas. The shifting accent color turns the near 1:1 display into a stronger game-room centerpiece without losing the clean retro-console look.
- Touch Color-Changing Control: Use the touch area for power and color changes, then double-tap to cycle through multiple lighting effects. Press and hold to fine-tune pattern speed and brightness, from a steady retro-console glow to a more dynamic game-room scene.

Choose the NES for a console-and-TV scene
The NES set builds a broader display vignette rather than just a console: it pairs the system with a controller, cartridge, and a TV whose Mario display scrolls by turning a handle. LEGO marks it retired on the US page, so availability may be limited to remaining retailer stock or resale.
Choose Atari 2600 for cartridges and a hidden room
The Atari 2600 set emphasizes early cartridge gaming, adding a joystick, three cartridges, game scenes, and a concealed 1980s room. The US LEGO page marks it retired, so check the seller and condition carefully if you find one for sale.

Choose SEGA for Genesis or Mega Drive configuration
The SEGA Genesis Console set lets you build either the Genesis or Mega Drive configuration, making it a natural fit for fans of either regional version. LEGO’s US page showed $39.99 when accessed. LEGO’s page gives inconsistent piece counts in its listing and description, so no definitive count is included here.

How to make the decision
- Start with the memory you want on display: PlayStation, Nintendo, Atari, Game Boy, or SEGA nostalgia points to the matching set.
- Check your shelf: the PlayStation’s stated footprint is 26 cm by 19 cm; the NES adds a television, while Atari includes several smaller display elements. The cited pages do not establish directly comparable dimensions for every set.
- Decide whether you want a scene or a single device: NES is a console-and-TV vignette, Atari adds multiple game scenes and a hidden room, while PlayStation and Game Boy center on the console itself.
- Compare live checkout prices and status: product-page status can change, and retired sets may be offered by third-party sellers at different prices.
There is no evidence-based overall winner for build time, difficulty, or value across these sets. The useful comparison is what each includes, the space you have, your preferred console, and the price and availability you can actually get.
