Tier lists can help you choose investments, but they are snapshots, not a universal best-team recipe.
What makes a strong beginner team?
Use each hero’s battlefield job as your starting point. Include a reliable damage source, a hero who can absorb pressure, and useful control or healing/support. Then consider whether those heroes suit your current stage, what you can realistically upgrade, and how their elements and battlefield positions fit together.
The official Google Play listing describes elemental combat and strategic placement, alongside more than 100 unique heroes. It does not prescribe a fixed beginner lineup. The best choice therefore depends on your roster and the encounter, not simply on copying a ranked list.
Check a candidate hero against four questions
- What job does this hero do? Damage, tanking, control, or healing/support.
- Does that job help with my current stage or mode? A high rank alone does not make a hero the right fit for every fight.
- Can I invest in this hero? A hero you can level and gear may be more useful to your team now than one you cannot develop.
- How do element and placement affect the lineup? Consider these game mechanics alongside hero rank and role.
Which heroes are worth prioritizing?
Pocket Gamer’s tier list, updated September 3, 2026 for version 1.0.53, places Wukong, Horus, Raphael, Hippolyta, Valkyrie, and Aphrodite in S+. This is a third-party editorial ranking, not an official developer list. Pocket Gamer describes Wukong as combining damage and toughness, Horus as a crowd-control and debuff mage, and Valkyrie as bringing freezing, healing, and tanking.

The same list also ranks Li Bai, ZiYao, Meownica, Hastur, and Erythnul in S+. A high rank can guide your investment choices, but it does not prove that any one combination is best for every stage or player.
These rankings are time-sensitive. The latest version-specific list established here is for version 1.0.53 and was updated September 3, 2026; it is not a developer balance notice. Check current in-game availability and changes before treating those ranks as definitive.

How should beginners choose and upgrade heroes?
Start with the roster you have
Choose your best available heroes to cover the team’s jobs rather than waiting for every S+ name. Pocket Gamer’s tier-list author says most heroes can work through earlier stages when levelled and geared, and advises against rerolling as a default: rerolling is lengthy and is not necessary to eventually obtain S+ heroes.
Concentrate upgrades
Pocket Gamer’s beginner guide, published October 22, 2024, recommends prioritizing Wukong, Horus, Raphael, Aphrodite, and Valkyrie if you obtain them; otherwise, it suggests choosing from the S tier of its list. The guide advises against spreading upgrades across every hero, says some lower-priority investments can be reset, and recommends saving universal shards for heroes you intend to use. These are the guide author’s recommendations, not rules that guarantee a particular result.

How should you progress while building the team?
Develop your lineup while continuing through the game instead of waiting for a perfect roster. The 2024 beginner guide recommends completing daily, weekly, and monthly quests, choosing events according to their rewards, and advancing through Adventure stages for resources and summoning keys.
That guide recommends reaching at least Chapter 12 before gradually advancing according to team development, and cautions against staying stuck on one stage for too long. Chapter 12 is an older guide’s target, not a verified current requirement; use your progress and the rewards available in your game to judge your next step.

How should beginners handle scarce resources?
The 2024 guide identifies Diamonds as premium currency and advises saving them for exclusive summons after establishing a reasonable early lineup. It also advises keeping Gold for later hero and gear costs. Currency systems, offers, and summon value can change, so treat this as a general resource-management principle: avoid impulsively spending scarce resources before you know what your team needs.
