Start with charge, distance, and pairing mode; then work through the source device and model-specific reset steps.
Start with charge, power, and distance
Charge the headphones, switch them off and back on, and keep them near the phone, tablet, or computer while pairing. Low battery can stop some headphones from entering pairing mode or maintaining a connection, and bringing the devices closer is a basic Windows troubleshooting step. See Microsoft’s Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance.
Range varies by model and conditions. For example, the iHome B90 manual gives an approximate operating range of 10 meters (33 feet); that figure is specific to the B90, not a guarantee for all Bluetooth headphones.
Put the headphones into pairing mode
Turning headphones on does not necessarily make them discoverable. Follow the instructions for the exact model to activate pairing mode, then look for the headphones in the source device’s Bluetooth list. Samsung notes that pairing-mode instructions vary by manufacturer and model; consult the headphone manual or manufacturer support page.

As one model-specific example, the iHome B90 manual says to begin with the headphones off and hold the multifunction button for about six seconds, until a pairing prompt and alternating blue/red indicator appear. Do not assume this button sequence or indicator applies to other children’s headphones.
Select the headphones on the phone, tablet, or computer
- Turn on Bluetooth on the device your child will use.
- Open that device’s Bluetooth settings or available-device list.
- Select the headphone name and accept any pairing prompt.
The menu labels differ by device and software version. For Galaxy phones and tablets, Samsung’s Bluetooth connection troubleshooting page provides device-specific guidance.

Remove an old pairing and connect again
If the headphones appear in the saved-device list but will not connect, remove, forget, or unpair them on the source device. Put the headphones back into pairing mode and select them again from the available-device list. Microsoft recommends removing and re-adding a Bluetooth device in Windows 10 and 11, and Samsung documents unpairing and reconnecting on Galaxy devices.
Check whether another device has taken the connection
Headphones may automatically reconnect to a phone, tablet, or computer they were paired with earlier. Temporarily turn Bluetooth off on other nearby family devices that have used the headphones, or disconnect the headphones from them, then try pairing with the intended device. The iHome B90 manual explicitly describes automatic linking to a previously paired device; behavior can differ on other models.

Reset only with instructions for the exact model
Reset controls are not standardized, and a reset may erase Bluetooth pairing information. Check the headphone’s manual or official support page before trying one. After a reset, pair the headphones again as if setting them up for the first time.
The variations are significant: the iHome B90 manual says to hold its “>>” button for three to four seconds to reset Bluetooth and return to pairing mode. JBL’s Junior Series instructions specify different button sequences for different models, including holds of 10–12 seconds for some and more than five seconds for others. JBL also warns that a factory reset erases Bluetooth data and may require forgetting and pairing the headset again on the source device. These are examples, not universal reset steps.

Troubleshoot the source device
If the headphones still will not connect, the phone, tablet, or computer may be the part that needs attention. Try these steps:
- Turn Bluetooth off and back on, then try again.
- Restart the source device.
- Install available operating-system updates.
- On Windows, run the Bluetooth troubleshooter in the Get Help app, as Microsoft recommends.
- On a supported Galaxy device, Samsung Members can run Bluetooth diagnostics. Samsung also documents resetting connection settings, but that removes saved Bluetooth and Wi-Fi information, so try it only after simpler steps.
Work out whether the problem follows the headphones
If possible, try connecting the headphones to another compatible phone, tablet, or computer. If they connect there, the original source device or its saved pairing is a more likely place to focus. If they fail on multiple compatible sources after the correct model-specific reset, contact the headphone manufacturer or check the warranty. This cross-device check is a practical way to narrow down the issue, not a manufacturer-certified diagnostic test.

A wired connection may be an option only if both the headphones and source device have compatible ports. The iHome B90 manual documents an auxiliary jack and cable, but many headphones do not include that fallback. Its manual also says there are no user-serviceable parts; do not open that model to attempt a repair.
