As of early October 2026, DeVonta Smith has the strongest evidence-based case among Philadelphia’s wide receivers for fantasy football: the Eagles’ camp preview describes him as the roster’s most productive receiver, and NFL.com lists 13 catches for 170 yards through two games. That is a small early-season sample, not a dependable rest-of-season projection. Smith was listed with a hamstring designation on the Eagles’ October 2 injury report, so check his latest status before setting a lineup.
How Smith compares with Philadelphia’s other receivers
The group changed in the offseason: Philadelphia’s July 8, 2026 wide receiver preview says A.J. Brown departed for New England. The team’s current unofficial depth chart lists Smith first at one receiver position, Makai Lemon first at another, and Dontayvion Wicks first at the remaining spot. That ordering indicates how the team lists the group; it does not establish target volume or fantasy rank.
| Receiver | What current team evidence establishes | Fantasy takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| DeVonta Smith | The Eagles’ camp preview calls him the roster’s most productive receiver. He is first-listed at one spot on the team’s unofficial chart. NFL.com lists 13 receptions and 170 receiving yards through two games in 2026. The October 2 injury report lists a hamstring designation. | The clearest evidence-based Eagles receiver choice in this comparison, but weigh his current availability and actual usage. The two-game line is an early snapshot, not a projection. |
| Makai Lemon | A 2026 first-round selection, first-listed at one receiver spot on the unofficial chart. | A meaningful new-role and target-competition variable. The chart alone does not establish a fantasy floor. |
| Dontayvion Wicks | First-listed at one receiver spot on the unofficial chart. | A competing option, but the available sources do not establish his current target share or fantasy ranking. |
| Marquise “Hollywood” Brown | Listed behind Smith at one receiver spot and included in current team materials. | Part of the receiving group; the available results do not provide enough teammate statistics for a numerical comparison with Smith. |
| Elijah Moore | Listed behind Lemon at one receiver spot. | A roster competitor whose current statistical comparison with Smith is unresolved in the available results. |
| A.J. Brown | The Eagles’ 2026 preview says he departed for New England. | He is not a current Eagles teammate or a 2026 Philadelphia comparison. His departure is part of the changed opportunity picture. |
Is DeVonta Smith the Eagles’ WR1?
Smith is the strongest candidate based on the available evidence, but “WR1” should not be treated as a guarantee of the most targets or the highest weekly fantasy score. The Eagles’ camp preview calls him the team’s most productive receiver, while the unofficial depth chart lists him first at one position. Lemon and Wicks are also first-listed at receiver spots, so the chart does not settle how targets will be distributed.
The Eagles’ camp preview and depth chart support a role comparison, not a precise target-share forecast. The available sources do not establish reliable rest-of-season shares, fantasy floors or ceilings, or a complete player-by-player projection.

What Smith’s early-season numbers mean for fantasy
NFL.com’s career statistics page lists Smith with 13 receptions and 170 receiving yards through two games in 2026. Keep the sample size attached to those numbers: two games are not enough to treat the line as a stable expectation for future weeks. The available evidence also does not provide same-week statistical comparisons for all Philadelphia receivers, so it cannot support a precise ranking among them.
As the season progresses, use the Eagles’ team statistics to compare actual production and check whether Smith’s usage is holding up alongside the other receivers. Production, current availability, team-listed role, and observed usage are more useful together than depth-chart position alone.

Should you start DeVonta Smith this week?
First, check the latest injury information. The Eagles’ October 2, 2026 injury report listed Smith with a hamstring designation; that dated listing is not a guarantee of his status for a later game. Confirm the newest report and final game status before deciding.
- Verify availability: Check the current Eagles injury report and final status rather than relying on the October 2 designation.
- Review recent usage: Compare Smith’s current production and opportunities with the other Eagles receivers using the team’s statistics page.
- Account for uncertainty: Treat the chart as evidence of team ordering, not a promise of targets, and do not project all of A.J. Brown’s vacated opportunities to Smith.
Without a current injury update, same-week teammate statistics, and a verified fantasy consensus, the available evidence cannot support a responsible categorical start/sit verdict for a particular week. Smith has the strongest documented role case in the group, but a lineup call depends on his active status and the latest usage.
