If weather is missing from your Lenovo Smart Clock, first ask, “Hey Google, what’s the weather?” If the clock cannot answer, check power, Wi-Fi, microphone mute, account setup, and location. If it answers aloud but shows no weather on screen, the official support pages reviewed do not document a specific display setting or guaranteed fix for that symptom.
First, tell whether the problem is voice weather or screen weather
Try asking the clock, “Hey Google, what’s the weather?” The result narrows down what to check:
- No spoken weather answer: Start with power, Wi-Fi, microphone mute, the Google account used for setup, Assistant, and location.
- Spoken weather works, but the screen has no weather: The clock can retrieve a weather answer, but the official guidance cited here does not identify a model-specific display repair or a setting that restores a weather tile.
Lenovo describes weather as part of the Smart Clock experience, and says the device will show “time, weather, and so on.” That describes intended functionality; it does not guarantee a persistent weather display in every model or screen state. Lenovo’s Product Features and Function FAQ also says the clock is designed to stay plugged in and requires an active Wi-Fi connection.
If the clock cannot answer a weather question
Check power and Wi-Fi
Confirm that the clock is powered and connected to Wi-Fi. Lenovo lists an active connection as a requirement and recommends checking internet connectivity and restarting the device in its Smart Clock 2 troubleshooting guide. That guide is specific to Smart Clock 2, so its model-specific instructions should not be assumed to apply to every Lenovo Smart Clock.

Check the microphone and Assistant setup
Make sure the microphone is not muted, then check that Assistant is set up on the clock and that you are using the expected Google account. Lenovo says setup requires the Google Home app on another phone or tablet. Its Smart Clock setup FAQ explains the setup requirement; Google’s troubleshooting guidance for speakers, Smart Displays, and Smart Clocks includes power, internet, mute, restart, and language checks.
Review the home location
Local weather depends on Assistant’s location context. In Google Home or Assistant, review the home address and saved locations under “Your places.” Google says that allowing Assistant to use the current location can improve local results, including weather. Its location instructions describe location settings for the Android phone or tablet using the app; they do not establish a clock-specific location permission switch. Menu names may vary by app version and platform.

If spoken weather works but the display is blank
Restart the clock by unplugging it, then reconnecting power. Lenovo recommends restarting as a general troubleshooting step, but does not identify it as a guaranteed weather-display repair. If the screen still omits weather, consult the documentation for your exact model or contact Lenovo support; the cited official guidance does not confirm a particular weather widget setting, cache issue, outage, or other display-specific cause.
Do not use Google’s unified home temperature setting as a presumed screen fix: Google explicitly says those changes “don’t apply on displays for third-party devices.” The Lenovo Smart Clock falls into that category for this setting. See Google’s weather-unit instructions.

Reset only after less disruptive checks fail
A factory reset is a later troubleshooting step, not a weather-specific fix. Lenovo’s general troubleshooting guidance recommends considering a reset if the issue persists. Before resetting, know that you will need to set up the clock again using the Google Home app. Follow instructions for your precise model rather than applying Smart Clock 2 menu steps to another model.

Identify whether you have a touchscreen Lenovo Smart Clock, Smart Clock 2, Smart Clock Essential, or Essential Alexa before following model-specific directions. Lenovo’s cited troubleshooting guide covers Smart Clock 2; it is not a universal menu guide.
