On a dual-SIM Galaxy A51, insert two nano-SIM cards, then go to Settings → Connections → SIM card manager to activate them and choose which line handles calls, text messages, and mobile data. First confirm that your specific A51 variant has a dual-SIM tray: Samsung says availability varies by market, so not every regional or carrier model should be assumed to match the announced dual-SIM configuration.
Check whether your Galaxy A51 supports two SIM cards
Samsung announced a Galaxy A51 configuration with “Dual SIM (3 slot),” alongside a separate microSD slot specification. That describes the announced configuration, not a guarantee that every A51 sold in every country or by every carrier has the same tray. Samsung’s manual also qualifies its instructions as applying to dual-SIM models. Check the phone’s full model number in its settings and compare it with documentation for your market before inserting a second card. Samsung’s announcement notes that availability may vary by market.
Insert both nano-SIM cards
- Use the ejection pin to loosen the SIM tray. Keep the pin perpendicular to the tray hole; using it at an angle or forcing it can damage the device.
- Place each nano-SIM in the positions marked on the tray for your dual-SIM model.
- Reinsert the tray fully without forcing it. Follow the manual supplied for your exact phone if its tray arrangement differs.
The Galaxy A51 manual specifies nano-SIM cards. Its instructions are for dual-SIM models, so do not assume the tray shown in one manual applies to every regional version.
Activate and name each SIM
- Open Settings → Connections → SIM card manager.
- Select each SIM or USIM and turn on its switch.
- Optionally customize each SIM’s icon and display name—for example, “Work” and “Personal”—so you can identify the lines in the phone’s settings.
If you cannot find SIM card manager, check the full model number and its regional or carrier documentation. The feature may not be available on that model, and menu labels can differ by software version.

Choose which SIM handles calls, texts, and data
In Settings → Connections → SIM card manager, assign a preferred SIM separately for calls, text messages, and mobile data. Some software versions also offer Confirm SIM card for calls, which prompts you to choose a line when placing a call instead of always using the preferred one.
Choosing a SIM for mobile data selects the line the phone uses for that service; it does not establish that both mobile-data connections run simultaneously. Consider which line has the plan and coverage you want for each service.

What “Dual SIM always on” does
Samsung describes Dual SIM always on as an option that can let you receive an incoming call on the other SIM while you are already on a call. Samsung warns that this may use call forwarding and that charges may apply depending on your region or service provider. Check your carrier’s terms before enabling it.
Resolve common dual-SIM problems
- The phone does not show SIM card manager: verify the exact model and whether that market or carrier version is dual-SIM.
- One SIM is not recognized: check that it is seated correctly, enabled in SIM card manager, and provisioned by its carrier.
- Calls, texts, or data use the wrong line: revisit the preferred SIM setting for that specific service.
- You miss calls on one line while using the other: review the Dual SIM always on option and check possible call-forwarding charges with your carrier.
These checks address common setup issues, but they cannot resolve every carrier, network, or software problem. Services that require a network connection depend on provider availability.

eSIM and model-specific differences
An AT&T support page provides eSIM setup steps in its carrier context, but that alone does not establish eSIM support across all Galaxy A51 variants. Confirm your exact model, carrier, and the options shown in SIM card manager rather than assuming every A51 supports eSIM. Samsung’s regional support page for the SM-A515F/DSN lists model-specific manuals, including an English Android 13 edition; use documentation that matches your phone.
