To remove or reinstall the SIM in a Samsung Galaxy A51, use a SIM eject pin in the hole beside the SIM tray, pull the released tray out gently, and place the card in its matching cutout with the gold contacts facing down. Reinsert the tray dry and fully seated. Never angle the pin or force a stuck tray.
What you need before you start
- A SIM eject pin. If the original pin is unavailable, a SIM tray eject pin can be used; Samsung does not endorse a particular tool.
- The SIM card and a dry surface to set the tray on.
Turn the phone so you can see the SIM tray along its edge. Use the small eject hole beside that tray—not another opening on the phone. Galaxy A51 regional and carrier variants exist; Samsung’s U.S. support catalog lists separate unlocked and Verizon versions and manuals. If your tray layout differs, check the manual for your exact model.
Remove the SIM tray
- Hold the eject pin straight and perpendicular to the tray’s eject hole.
- Press gently until the tray loosens and begins to release. Do not push at an angle: Samsung warns that an angled pin can damage the tray or device. See Samsung Colombia’s Galaxy A51 SIM instructions and Samsung Singapore’s SIM/USIM instructions.
- Pull the released tray out carefully. Do not yank or twist it.
Place the SIM card in the tray
- Find the SIM-shaped cutout in the tray and match the card’s shape and clipped corner to it.
- Set the SIM in the cutout with its gold contacts facing down, then press lightly so it sits securely and does not shift.
Do not force a card that does not fit the cutout. Tray positions can vary by model variant; consult the manual for your exact Galaxy A51 rather than guessing where a card belongs.
Reinsert the tray
- Check that the tray is dry before putting it back. Samsung cautions that a wet tray can damage the phone.
- Keep the SIM seated in its cutout and slide the tray straight into the slot.
- Push it fully in until it sits flush with the phone’s edge. Samsung notes that full insertion helps prevent liquid from entering.
If the tray will not come out or the SIM will not sit properly
- The tray does not release: Check that you are using the eject hole beside the SIM tray and that the pin is perpendicular. Stop if gentle pressure does not release it; do not lever, twist, or increase force.
- The SIM will not fit or stay in place: Remove it and check that it matches the tray cutout and orientation. Do not push a mismatched card into the tray.
- The tray seems stuck or the layout is different: Stop and check the manual for the exact model or contact Samsung support. Forcing the tray can damage the phone or tray.
Samsung’s UK Galaxy SIM instructions also advise careful tray handling and reinsertion.
