If an iPhone or iPad control seems to have moved, first check the right surface: quick actions are usually in Control Center, webpage options are in an app’s menu, and persistent preferences are in Settings. The exact gesture and labels depend on the device and software version. The steps below include Apple’s iOS 26 instructions; layouts may differ on another release or device.
Where did Control Center go?
The opening gesture depends on the device:
- iPhone with Face ID: Swipe down from the top-right corner.
- iPhone with a Home button: Swipe up from the bottom edge.
- iPad: Swipe down from the top-right corner.
These device-specific gestures are documented in Apple’s iPhone Control Center guide, iPad Control Center guide, and iOS 26 iPhone guide. On iPhone with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom center to close Control Center; Apple documents the same closing gesture for iPad.

Look through Control Center groups
A missing tile may be in another group rather than gone. Swipe through the icons along the right edge to move between groups. Touch and hold a control to see its available quick actions; Apple’s examples include AirDrop options and Camera actions.
Add a control to your layout
Apple says, “You can rearrange, add, and remove controls in Control Center.” To restore a frequently used control:
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
- Open Control Center using the gesture for your device.
- Tap Add, then choose Add a Control.
- Select a control in the gallery. Drag controls to rearrange them; use the on-screen edit controls to resize or remove a control.
Apple’s iPhone guide and iPad guide describe customizing Control Center.
Why doesn’t Wi-Fi turn off when I tap it in Control Center?
In Control Center, tapping Wi-Fi or Bluetooth disconnects temporarily; it does not act like a full, persistent radio-off setting. To turn either radio off or back on, open Settings > Wi-Fi or Settings > Bluetooth. Apple documents the distinction in its iPhone and iPad instructions.

Where did the Safari address bar or tabs go?
Safari separates controls for the current webpage from settings for how the app is arranged. The Page Menu beside the search field provides page-level actions. Safari’s settings, including tab layout, are elsewhere.
Use the Page Menu for the current page
Open the Page Menu beside Safari’s search field to adjust text size, switch to Reader when it is available, or use additional options to hide the toolbar. These actions affect how you view a page; they are not the tab-layout setting. See Apple’s Safari settings guide.

Apple’s iOS 26 documentation describes a Camera layout centered on Photo and Video, with other modes available by swiping. Camera controls are grouped onscreen. If instructions or a screenshot do not match your Camera screen, check your iOS version and device before following version-specific directions. Apple outlines the changes in What’s new in iOS 26.

A quick way to troubleshoot a moved control
- Check the device gesture: Face ID iPhone, Home button iPhone, and iPad do not all open Control Center the same way.
- Check the surface: Look in Control Center for quick actions, the app’s menu for page or app actions, and Settings for persistent preferences.
- Check the scope: A Control Center tap may be temporary, while the corresponding Settings option changes a persistent setting.
- Check the software version: Apple’s iOS 26 steps and labels may not match an earlier or later release.
