Check the router’s exact model number, then confirm that model’s wireless specification on TP-Link’s official site says Wi‑Fi 6 or 802.11ax. Match the hardware version and purchase region as well: TP-Link notes that revisions and regional availability can differ.

1. Find the exact model number

Look at the label on the bottom or back of the router. If the router is accessible in a TP-Link app, its device information may show the model number there too. Record the model exactly as printed; do not mistake the serial number or hardware version for the model number. See TP-Link’s guide to finding a TP-Link device’s model number.

2. Record the hardware version and region

Note the hardware version, often shown on the label or in the router’s management interface. Versions such as V1 and V2 may have different requirements, so the hardware version is important when looking up documentation or downloads. TP-Link explains how to find the hardware version and advises matching downloads to it.

Use the official TP-Link website for the country or region where you bought the router. TP-Link’s support guidance for regional websites and its downloads pages note that availability can vary by region and hardware version.

TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX21 V5)
  • DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
  • AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.

3. Check the model’s wireless specification

  1. Search the exact model on the appropriate regional TP-Link website.
  2. Open its product or support page and check the wireless specification or manual.
  3. Look for an explicit Wi‑Fi 6 or 802.11ax designation. That model-specific specification is the clearest confirmation.

TP-Link’s product guide groups supported examples under “Wi‑Fi 6 (AX),” and its Archer AX3000 page explicitly calls it a Wi‑Fi 6 router. Those examples show how the company identifies the standard; they do not replace checking your exact model and revision.

TP-Link Wi‑Fi 6 examples

TP-Link’s 2024 Wi‑Fi 6 (AX) product guide lists the Archer AX55, AX53, AX50, AX23, AX20, AX12, and AX10, among other models. The guide also shows that some models have multiple hardware revisions. The guide is an example lineup, not a complete or permanent catalog; availability and versions can change.

If the result is unclear

  • Make sure you searched the full model number, not just a partial name or a number such as “AX.”
  • Check that the product page or manual corresponds to your hardware version and purchase region.
  • If the official page does not state Wi‑Fi 6 or 802.11ax clearly, consult that model’s manual or TP-Link support rather than inferring the standard from the name alone.
