Pets Survivors is a single-player survival roguelike from Vergiu. Its Steam listing says it released for Windows on June 1, 2026, and describes choosing upgrades for a weapon, special ability, or pet while fighting monster waves and collecting experience. The US PlayStation Store also lists digital PS4 and PS5 editions, dated August 12, 2026; that listing describes 14 playable pets and a dozen starting weapons. These recommendations are based on official store descriptions, not hands-on testing. They are not an objective quality ranking: each keeps some part of the horde-survival loop while changing the controls, setting, or progression.

Vampire Survivors: the closest fit for the core loop
Vampire Survivors is the natural first stop if what you want is to face large enemy waves and make choices that grow your power over a run. Its official Steam description calls it a gothic horror casual game with roguelite elements; the Steam listing gives an October 20, 2022 release date. Brotato: short arena fights and multi-weapon builds
Choose Brotato if you like putting together a loadout and taking on bounded arena encounters. Its Steam description centers on a potato carrying up to six weapons while fighting alien waves; traits and items shape each build. The listing identifies both single-player and local co-op. 20 Minutes Till Dawn: active aim and firing
Unlike a typical auto-shooter framing, 20 Minutes Till Dawn emphasizes directional aiming and firing. Its store description highlights weapons, runes, special abilities, and runs lasting 10–20 minutes. The same page describes over 50 upgrades during a run; that is a store-page feature claim. Halls of Torment: heroes and dark fantasy
Halls of Torment recasts horde survival around heroes facing terrifying monsters, with treasures and magical trinkets among its progression hooks. - Combat control: 20 Minutes Till Dawn explicitly emphasizes active directional aim and firing. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is described as an auto-shooter.
- Builds and run structure: Brotato focuses on wave fights and loadouts of up to six weapons. 20 Minutes Till Dawn emphasizes weapons, runes, and abilities. Halls of Torment leans on hero, treasure, and trinket progression.
