If the problem continues, record when it happens and send the details through Team Metal’s support channels.
Start by identifying what is failing
“Crashes,” “won’t launch,” and “low FPS” can describe different problems. Note which one fits before changing settings or contacting support.
- Won’t launch: Steam starts the game but no window appears, or the game exits before you can play.
- Crashes: The game closes during startup, in a particular scene or encounter, or after a repeatable action.
- Low FPS or stutter: The game remains open but has persistently low frame rates, brief freezes, or hitching.
Write down the exact error message, the game version displayed in Steam, your Windows version, CPU, GPU and RAM, whether the problem occurs in solo play or co-op, and the steps that reproduce it. Team Metal says player reports help it identify, reproduce and prioritize problems.
Check whether Hotfix 1.0.2 is installed
Team Metal announced Hotfix 1.0.2 on September 30, 2026, saying it was live on all platforms. The update followed the September 1 launch and includes fixes relevant to PC crashes and performance. Check the version shown for your Steam installation before relying on launch-day troubleshooting information. See the official Steam announcement for Hotfix 1.0.2.

The patch notes report “Fixed multiple crashes affecting PC,” including an animation-related PC crash and a crash during UI text processing. They also report fixes for FPS drops or hitching in Forsaken Streets, Ramshorn Keep, Elk Grove Academy, the Prologue, Warden and other boss encounters, and other named situations. Team Metal says shader compilation at launch was improved to reduce its time and improve load times.
These are publisher-reported changes, not independently measured results. If your issue matches a named scene or symptom, note whether it still occurs after updating. The notes do not promise that 1.0.2 resolves every crash, launch error, or performance problem.

The Steam listing gives these requirements for the Windows 11 PC build. They are developer-listed tiers, not a guarantee of a particular resolution or frame rate.

Compare your exact CPU, GPU, RAM, operating system and free storage with the Crimson Moon Steam listing. A system below the listed minimum or using a different OS may be relevant, but the requirements alone cannot establish why a particular PC crashes or has low FPS. They also do not justify buying a specific upgrade without first checking your actual hardware and needs.

Use the symptom to guide your next step
If Crimson Moon crashes during a particular scene
Record the scene, encounter, and action that precede the crash, and whether you can reproduce it. Because the 1.0.2 notes name several crash fixes and specific areas or encounters with FPS and hitching fixes, report whether your case matches one of those situations and whether it persists on the updated version.
If the game has low FPS or stutters
Note where the drops happen and whether they are continuous or brief hitches. The publisher reports performance work in particular areas and encounters, plus shorter shader compilation at launch; it does not provide independent FPS measurements or promise a target frame rate. Avoid treating those patch notes as proof that unrelated slowdowns have been fixed.

If the game exits before a window appears
Capture the exact error, if any, and note the installed version and your system details. Check the Steam listing against your PC’s OS and hardware, then include both the error and the steps immediately before the exit in a support report. The official information cited here does not validate registry edits, undocumented launch flags, or third-party driver utilities as fixes for this title.

- Steam game version and Windows version.
- CPU, GPU and installed RAM.
- The exact error text, or a clear description if no error appears.
- Whether it happens in solo play, co-op, a specific scene, or after a repeatable action.
- Steps to reproduce the problem and whether it continues after Hotfix 1.0.2.
The publisher’s September 1 “Known Issues (Launch Day)” article predates Hotfix 1.0.2. It acknowledged gameplay crashes, including ray-tracing-related cases and specific encounters, but it is a historical launch-build status page, not confirmation that those issues remain current. Check the later 1.0.2 announcement for the subsequent changes.
Keep save concerns separate from crash and FPS troubleshooting
Team Metal says some save issues remain under investigation and identifies switching devices as context for some reports. For now, it recommends using one device where possible; it also says PC players may create a local save backup as an additional precaution while save work continues. This is save-integrity guidance, not a performance fix. Do not delete save data as a crash or FPS troubleshooting step.
