Family Safety can show a connected family member’s Xbox activity and enforce limits; it is not a universal personal cloud-session history page. As of October 4, 2026, Xbox’s new monthly cloud-hour allowances are announced for November, not yet active, and the exact remaining-hours screen has not been documented.
Check a family member’s reported Xbox activity
Microsoft Family Safety is the documented way for an organizer to review a connected family member’s Xbox activity. Its reports show app or game use and screen-time information, rather than a detailed log of each cloud gaming session’s start and end.
- Connect the family member’s account and device to your Microsoft family group and Family Safety.
- In the Family Safety app, select the family member and enable Activity reporting for Xbox. Alternatively, sign in to the Microsoft family account website, open that family member’s card, and enable Xbox reporting.
- Open the family member’s Xbox platform report. Choose Apps, features, and games to see apps or games used and reported time. The screen-time view provides daily and weekly device-use information.
Only family organizers can enable, disable, and view activity reporting. Xbox activity may continue to be reported while the account is signed in, including when someone else is using the console. Microsoft advises children to sign out when they finish.
Set a limit on a game or app
An app or game limit sets a daily allowance and the time window when that particular app or game can be used. Microsoft says these limits can extend across connected Windows, Xbox, and Android devices.

- In Family Safety, select the family member and choose the Windows/Xbox platform.
- Open Set time limits > Apps, features, and games, then enable App and game limits.
- Select the game or app and set its daily time allowance and permitted time window. On the web, use the family member’s Windows/Xbox platform and the Apps, features, and games tab on the Microsoft family account site.
This control does not provide website-use timers. Microsoft says time limits do not work on websites, although related sites can be blocked through its settings.
Set an Xbox device schedule
A device schedule controls when the family member may use the Xbox, rather than setting a separate allowance for one game.

- Select the family member in the Family Safety app or on the Microsoft family account website.
- Choose the Xbox platform and set the permitted hours and time ranges for each day.
These family controls require the relevant family-group access. Someone who is not an organizer or does not have appropriate Family Safety access cannot view another family member’s screen-time information.
Understand why reported time and enforcement may differ
Microsoft’s troubleshooting guidance says a limit can count time from sign-in, including idle time, while idle time may not appear in the device usage report. For example, a child with a two-hour allowance could be locked out after staying signed in while idle even if the report shows only one minute of use. Xbox describes the countdown as beginning at sign-in and ending at sign-out; it is a parental screen-time measure, not a count of active minutes spent playing a cloud session.

- Have the player sign out when finished so signed-in idle time does not consume a limit.
- If usage appears under the wrong day, check that the account’s time-zone setting is correct.
Xbox’s announced monthly cloud-hour allowances
Xbox announced monthly cloud gaming allowances beginning in November 2026. A September 3, 2026 report by PC Gamer reported the announced amounts and said Xbox estimated the change would affect 4% of Game Pass subscribers. That 4% is Xbox’s estimate as reported by the outlet, not an independently measured usage statistic.

These are announced future allowances as of October 4, 2026; they should not be treated as active limits on that date. The report says Xbox planned to provide more information in November about pricing, buying extra hours, eligible games, market availability, and how users can check remaining time. A precise menu path for checking those hours is therefore not established here. Consult Xbox’s own post-launch product or support guidance once the allowances roll out rather than relying on a guessed setting.
