Both target 4K streaming, but the manufacturers’ specifications do not establish which is faster in everyday use or which offers the better app experience.

What NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro offers
NVIDIA positions SHIELD TV Pro as an Android TV streaming device with Chromecast 4K built in. Its listed hardware includes a Tegra X1+ processor with a 256-core GPU, 3 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage. USB flash drives or hard drives can expand storage. - Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and DTS-HD pass-through over HDMI, as listed by NVIDIA.
These are supported features on the product specification, not a promise that every app, media file, receiver, or television will use every format. Check the complete playback chain, especially if you rely on a particular surround format.
4K and HDR setup requirements
NVIDIA says 4K Ultra HD content requires a 4K display with an HDMI input supporting HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. Its SHIELD TV Pro setup guide covers enabling HDR or Dolby Vision in the device and TV settings. The guide also notes that cable quality can prevent Dolby Vision from being enabled; it does not say that a premium cable is necessary for every setup.

What Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen, 2022) offers
Amazon identifies the compared device as the Fire TV Cube, 3rd Gen (2022). Its specification page lists Fire OS 7, an Amlogic POP1-G octa-core SoC, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a four-microphone array, hands-free Alexa, HDR10, and an HDMI input. Voice control and HDMI input
The Cube’s far-field microphones support hands-free Alexa, so voice control is a central reason to consider it. Its HDMI input is intended for compatible connected devices. If you are buying it to control a specific device through Alexa or route a particular source through the Cube, verify that equipment’s compatibility rather than assuming every HDMI device is supported.

Amazon’s Wi-Fi 6E documentation conflict
Amazon’s device-page overview calls the Cube Wi-Fi 6E, and Amazon’s September 28, 2022 launch announcement also says it supports Wi-Fi 6E. However, the same specifications page’s technical Wi-Fi row lists 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2×2 MIMO, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz. Because these official descriptions do not agree, do not treat Wi-Fi 6E as confirmed without checking reliable documentation for the exact unit or listing.

Pick SHIELD TV Pro for a media-centered setup
Its two USB ports, expandable storage, Gigabit Ethernet, Android TV, and Chromecast 4K make it the clearer fit when those specific capabilities matter to your home media arrangement. Its listed HDMI audio formats may also suit an existing receiver setup, provided your apps, files, and connected equipment support the formats you plan to use.

Pick Fire TV Cube for Alexa and connected equipment
Choose the Cube when hands-free Alexa is a priority or its HDMI input serves a compatible device in your setup. Amazon’s launch announcement described the 2022 Cube as “20% more powerful than the previous generation.” That is Amazon’s own comparison with the prior Cube, not an independent benchmark and not a comparison with SHIELD TV Pro.
Compare the services and prices you actually use
The listed platform names—Android TV with Chromecast 4K on SHIELD and Fire OS 7 on Cube—do not settle which has the better app selection or day-to-day experience. The cited product sources are not a complete, current app catalog comparison. Check availability of your essential services and current local pricing before purchasing; the cited specifications do not establish a current price or stock winner.
