Start with the control options in the game you play, choose the button layout and control method you can use reliably, and adjust the stick deadzone only if the game registers unwanted movement or fails to register intended movement.
Start with the fighting game’s control settings
Game-level settings determine how that particular title reads your inputs. Look for its controller, controls or battle-settings menu before changing a hardware profile. The options and menu names vary by game, so a setting used in one fighting game may not exist in another.
Street Fighter 6
In Street Fighter 6, Capcom says Battle Settings are available from Battle Hub and Fighting Ground. Open the game’s settings from either area, then choose the control options that suit your play. See the official Street Fighter 6 Battle Setting Tips.
Choose a control style and layout you can execute
Try the control types and button assignments offered by your game. Use the arrangement that lets you perform your intended inputs consistently and comfortably; available evidence does not establish that a D-pad, analog stick or particular button layout is best for every player. The options are game- and controller-dependent.

What deadzone should you use?
A stick deadzone is the range of movement around the stick’s resting position that the controller or game ignores. With a larger deadzone, small movements are less likely to register; the trade-off is that the stick must move farther before an input is recognized. PlayStation uses 10% as an illustration of how a deadzone works, not as a recommended fighting-game setting. Its explanation is in the DualSense Edge settings guide.
- Begin with the deadzone setting in your game’s own controls, if one is available.
- If the stick produces movement while you are not intentionally tilting it, raise the deadzone a little at a time.
- If intended movement is not registering promptly, try a smaller deadzone.
- Retest in the game and stop at the smallest value that avoids unwanted input with your controller.
This is practical tuning guidance, not a tested numerical preset. The right value depends on the game and controller; the sources do not establish a universal percentage.

Keep game settings separate from controller profiles
Some controllers have their own configuration layer. It can change stick response or button mapping independently of a game’s options. If both layers are active, check what each one is changing so you can understand the result; on PC, verify any overlapping mappings in the game rather than assuming they work together as intended.
DualSense Edge on PS5
PlayStation documents DualSense Edge options for stick sensitivity and deadzone, button mapping and custom profiles. DualSense Edge on Windows PC
PlayStation says its PlayStation Accessories app can update DualSense Edge firmware and customize controller settings and profiles on a Windows PC. That documentation does not explain every game’s interaction with Steam Input or other PC input layers, so check the game you’re playing if a remapping behaves unexpectedly. Do you need a configurable controller?
No. A configurable controller is optional: the settings described here are tools for tailoring a setup, not prerequisites for playing well. If you already own a DualSense Edge, its documented profiles, stick adjustments and button mapping can help you personalize its behavior. If you do not, begin with the game’s own settings and the controls already available to you. The available sources do not establish an overall controller ranking or a performance advantage.
