Use the charger and cable specified in the manual for your exact rechargeable table fan. Whether you can run the fan while it is plugged in—and when to unplug it—depends on that model. Charge it on a stable, open surface where air can circulate, monitor it, and stop immediately if the battery looks damaged or becomes unusually hot.
Before charging, check the fan and its instructions
Fan charging requirements are not interchangeable just because two models have similar USB ports. Check the manual for the exact model, including the specified cable and charger, whether the fan must be switched off, and how the manual says to recognize a full charge.
- Inspect the fan, cable, connector, and adapter for visible damage.
- Use the supplied charging equipment or equipment explicitly recommended by the manufacturer. Do not assume a generic USB cable or adapter is compatible.
- Do not use or charge the fan if its battery or charging components appear faulty.
For example, the Euromatic TNLF6 manual says to use the supplied USB cable. The Firefly FEL6119 manual lists a Type-C input, a 3.7 V, 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery, and a four-hour charging time for that model. A Type-C port shape alone does not establish that a particular adapter is suitable.
Can you use a rechargeable fan while it is charging?
Only if the manual for your fan allows it. Some models specifically say to keep the fan off during charging: the Denali Aire 1DAFD8R manual recommends charging with the fan off, and the Origin Products HF506 manual says not to charge while the fan is operating. Those instructions apply to those models, not every rechargeable fan. If your manual does not clearly answer the question, contact the manufacturer rather than assuming operation while charging is safe.

Charge it in a clear, ventilated place
- Set it on a stable, open surface. Keep the fan and charger away from bedding, couches, heat sources, direct sunlight, and moisture.
- Connect the specified charger and cable. Follow the model’s instructions for connecting the fan and switching it off, if required.
- Stay nearby and monitor charging. Watch the charge indicator as described in the manual. Singapore’s Consumer Product Safety Office lithium-ion guidance advises monitoring charging and avoiding charging a device under a pillow, bed, or couch.
- Disconnect as instructed. Follow the manual’s directions when the battery is full. The Denali Aire and HF506 manuals direct users to unplug after a full charge; the Singapore guidance also advises unplugging when full.
What to do if the battery seems damaged
Stop charging and using the fan if the battery is swollen, leaking, unusually hot, or otherwise abnormal. Do not dismantle, squeeze, puncture, or burn a lithium-ion battery. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider for advice; do not attempt a home repair. The Singapore safety guidance identifies swelling, leakage, and excessive heat during charging as signs of suspected battery damage, and the Euromatic manual also warns against using or charging its product if something is wrong with the battery.
How to store a rechargeable table fan
Use the storage directions in the manual for your exact model. The Euromatic TNLF6 manual recommends bringing its battery to about half charge before prolonged storage and warns that storing it empty for a long time may damage it. This is a model-specific direction, not a universal storage target for rechargeable fans.

Check for recalls by exact model and location
Check current safety notices from the relevant authorities where you live, matching the product name and model number. In September 2026, Health Canada published a fire-hazard recall for a particular portable rechargeable clip-on mini fan: its battery compartment could allow reverse-polarity battery insertion. That notice concerns the specified product, not rechargeable table fans as a category.
