Leaked 2019 benchmark results made Intel’s Ice Lake Gen11 Iris Plus Graphics 940 look like a substantial step up from UHD 620 and a strong integrated-GPU competitor. They were synthetic results, however—not a controlled test of a retail laptop—and the comparisons with AMD’s Vega 11 changed when an unusually high GFXBench score was excluded.

What the Intel Iris Plus 940 benchmark leak showed

The leak concerned Intel Ice Lake’s Gen11 GT2 integrated graphics, identified in 2019 coverage as Iris Plus Graphics 940. HEXUS summarized leaked GFXBench and CompuBench comparisons as showing a large lead over Intel Gen9 graphics and Ryzen 7 2700U/Vega 10, while averaging about 25% behind the Ryzen 5 2400G/Vega 11 across the comparisons it cited. HEXUS’s 2019 report is one summary of those results, not a retail-product review.

Notebookcheck published a different analysis of leaked GFXBench 5.0 off-screen results. It reported a 76.53% average advantage over UHD 620. Against AMD graphics, however, the result depended heavily on whether a high Manhattan score was included:

Comparison in Notebookcheck’s 2019 analysis With the Manhattan result included With it excluded
Iris Plus 940 versus Vega 10 Iris Plus 940 led by 63%. Iris Plus 940 led by 45%.
Iris Plus 940 versus Vega 11 Iris Plus 940 was about 1.7% ahead. Vega 11 was 9% ahead.

These are Notebookcheck’s reported averages from leaked synthetic comparisons, not results from a matched review system. The unusually high Manhattan result is a material reason not to treat the small Vega 11 lead as a settled ranking. Notebookcheck’s analysis was published on February 23, 2019, and its page shows an update dated February 18, 2026.

How reliable were the leaked scores?

The results were exposed through benchmark listings and a Reddit post, rather than produced by a controlled review of a retail laptop. The reporting does not establish a reproducible test machine, finalized drivers, sustained power behavior, memory configuration, or a complete matched benchmark protocol. That makes the figures useful as an early indication of potential, but not as a dependable forecast for every laptop using the graphics.

GFXBench and CompuBench are synthetic workloads; a lead in those suites does not translate directly into a particular frame rate in a game. Cross-GPU comparisons also need matching test conditions. Relevant variables include benchmark suite and API, on-screen versus off-screen resolution, treatment of outliers, game and settings, laptop power limit and cooling, and memory configuration. The leaked scores do not resolve those variables well enough to make a definitive gaming-performance ranking.

What a real laptop test adds

Tom’s Hardware’s 2020 testing of a Core i7-1065G7 system with Iris Plus Graphics illustrates how power settings can affect game results. In Battlefield V at 1080p High, it measured 12–13 fps in the system’s 15 W setting and 16–18 fps at 25 W. These are results for that tested system and workload; they are not a direct verification of the leaked GFXBench scores or a promise for every Ice Lake laptop. Tom’s Hardware’s test provides real-game context, while the leak remains a separate synthetic comparison.

Keep Iris Plus 940 separate from Iris Xe

Iris Plus Graphics 940 was the name attached to Ice Lake Gen11 graphics in the 2019 leak coverage. Intel’s later Tiger Lake launch, on September 2, 2020, used the Iris Xe branding. Intel said Tiger Lake Iris Xe graphics offered up to 96 execution units and claimed up to twice the game performance of the previous generation in its own comparison. Those specifications and claims refer to Tiger Lake, not Iris Plus 940. Intel’s Tiger Lake launch announcement quoted Client Computing Group general manager Gregory Bryant calling the processors “a major leap forward in real-world processor performance”; that is Intel’s company statement about Tiger Lake, not an independent finding about the 940.

What this means when comparing or buying a laptop

The leak is historical evidence of promising Ice Lake graphics results, not a basis for predicting the performance of a current listing or choosing a laptop on its own. If assessing a system advertised with Iris Plus graphics, check the exact processor and laptop configuration, then look for independent results for that model and workload. A test of a Core i7-1065G7 laptop, for example, is more informative for that configuration than an isolated leaked score, but its power setting and test conditions still matter.

Intel’s graphics-support page says that Tiger Lake and specified 11th–14th Gen families moved to a legacy software support model as of September 19, 2025, with quarterly releases focused on critical fixes and security vulnerabilities. That notice does not establish a specific support end date for Ice Lake or Iris Plus Graphics 940; it should not be extended to 10th Gen without direct confirmation. Intel’s graphics-support update was last reviewed on October 23, 2025.
