For sealed Magic: The Gathering products such as booster boxes and bundles, compare a local game store with listings on TCGplayer and Amazon. For a particular card, look for the single directly rather than buying packs in hopes of opening it. In every case, check who is selling the item, its condition, the delivered price, and the return terms; a marketplace listing is not necessarily sold by the platform itself.
Choose the route that matches what you want to buy
Booster boxes and bundles are sealed products. Singles are individual cards, so buying the named card is the direct option when you have a specific card in mind. Wizards’ official shop distinguishes product types such as Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, and Bundles; product names and contents vary by set. See Wizards’ product guide for The Hobbit for an example of set-specific categories.
| Route | Useful for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Local game store | Sealed releases, events, and singles if the store stocks them | Availability, price, preorder and event timing, and the store’s return policy |
| TCGplayer | Comparing marketplace listings for sealed products and individual cards | Who the seller is, item condition, shipping, combined order cost, and return terms |
| Amazon | Sealed products linked from Wizards’ current release announcements | Seller identity, listing and packaging details, condition, delivery, total price, and returns |
Wizards names local game stores, TCGplayer, and Amazon as routes for current releases. Those are options, not a guarantee that a given item is in stock or cheapest at any one store. Availability, currency, delivery, and retailer choices differ by location. Compare the total at checkout for your location rather than relying on a headline listing price. See Wizards’ sales update.
Find a local game store or WPN retailer
Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores are participating game stores. Wizards says local WPN stores are first to sell new tabletop products when Prerelease events begin. That timing can matter if you want a new set early, but a store’s stock, preorder arrangements, prices, and return policy are store-specific.

Compare marketplace listings carefully
Using TCGplayer
TCGplayer lists products from individual sellers. Check the seller on the specific offer, not just the marketplace name, and review the card’s stated condition, shipping cost, and return terms. When ordering multiple singles, compare the combined delivered total; a low item price may not produce the lowest overall order cost.
TCGplayer’s WPN filter can narrow results to participating WPN sellers. It is a seller-network signal, not a guarantee that a particular listing is in stock, the item is authentic, or the price is lowest. The platform explains its WPN badges and filter in its WPN badge guide.

Using Amazon
Wizards links to Amazon for some current product releases, but an Amazon listing may be sold by a third-party seller rather than Amazon. Read the seller and condition details on the offer you intend to buy, and check the delivery date, full checkout price, and applicable return terms before ordering.
Check sealed products and cards for authenticity
Wizards’ Support guidance, updated July 28, 2026, recommends buying from reputable dealers and examining sealed packaging. For a box, look for an intact factory seal and a Wizards stamp. For loose packs, watch for signs of resealing, including vertical heat striations. On auction listings, read the fine print so you know exactly what is being sold; do not treat a proxy described as authentic as a genuine card.

For online sealed products in North America, Wizards says the Authorized Internet Retailer logo indicates that a store has been approved to sell sealed products online. This is an approval signal, not a substitute for checking the specific listing, seller, condition, or return terms. If you suspect a product is fraudulent, Wizards’ advice is: “If you suspect the product is fraudulent, don’t buy it.” Read the full Wizards product-authenticity guidance.

Release dates affect what a listing means. Wizards lists The Hobbit tabletop release date as August 14, 2026 and names local game stores, TCGplayer, and Amazon as preorder routes. The Star Trek tabletop release date is November 13, 2026; as of October 4, 2026, Wizards’ named retailer routes are preorder options, not released stock.
