The WD_BLACK C50 is listed in capacities up to 2TB; Xbox lists Seagate’s card up to 4TB. Neither company’s official product pages establish a current price winner, so compare the same capacity and check live availability before buying.
How the WD_BLACK C50 compares with Seagate
Both products are proprietary expansion cards intended to integrate with Xbox Series X|S storage. Their manufacturers position them for console-like performance and playing optimized games from the card; the official claims are not independent benchmark results.
| Factor | WD_BLACK C50 | Seagate Storage Expansion Card |
|---|---|---|
| Console compatibility | Xbox Series X|S, according to WD’s product page. | Xbox Series X and Series S, according to Xbox’s product page. |
| Listed capacities | 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB, according to WD. | 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB on Xbox’s current product page. |
| Performance positioning | WD says the card enables the same speed and performance as the console when playing Series X|S-optimized games, using Xbox Velocity Architecture. See the WD data sheet. | Xbox says the card maintains the internal SSD’s peak speed and performance. |
| Quick Resume | Supported according to WD’s product page and data sheet. | Quick Resume is cited in Seagate’s product materials. |

Which card makes sense for your Xbox?
Choose WD if its capacity and local price fit
The C50 gives buyers a second brand to consider and includes a 512GB option that is not listed among the capacities on Xbox’s Seagate page. WD’s lineup tops out at 2TB, so it does not match Seagate’s listed 4TB tier. Check the exact model and console compatibility on the WD_BLACK C50 product page before purchasing.
Choose Seagate if you need the listed 4TB tier
Xbox’s product page lists the Seagate card in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities and identifies compatibility with Series X and Series S. For buyers who need the greatest listed capacity between these two product lines, 4TB is the deciding difference—not a demonstrated speed advantage.

Compare matching capacities before comparing prices
For a fair price check, compare cards with the same capacity and confirm the listing is for the Xbox expansion-card model, rather than a USB drive or another storage accessory. Retail prices and stock can vary by retailer and region; the official pages cited here do not prove that WD is cheaper than Seagate.
Expansion cards are different from USB storage
A WD_BLACK C50 or Seagate expansion card is intended to provide console-integrated storage for Series X|S-optimized games. Seagate says its card supports direct play, including Series X|S and legacy games. An ordinary external USB drive serves a different role: Seagate says it can store games, but Series X|S-optimized titles must be transferred back to internal storage to play. That distinction matters if your goal is to avoid moving games between drives.

Neither product comparison establishes that one card is measurably faster. WD and Xbox describe their respective cards as matching console storage behavior, but those statements are manufacturer or platform claims, not independent test results.

Large game libraries can make additional storage useful, but the official product sources cited here do not provide a representative game-install size or a measured growth rate. The capacity decision should therefore be based on how much extra room you want, rather than an assumed universal size for Xbox games. If you are weighing an expansion card against USB storage, decide first whether you need direct play for Series X|S-optimized games or primarily want a place to keep titles between play sessions.
