Is ASUS raising PC prices because of RAM and SSD costs?
TrendForce reported on December 31, 2025, that ASUS planned targeted price adjustments for parts of its PC portfolio beginning January 5, 2026. The report was based on a notice obtained from industry sources; it did not establish that every ASUS computer, product line, or market would receive the same increase. TrendForce’s December report did not specify the size of the adjustment, a point also noted by Tom’s Hardware.
The stated cost pressure centered on DRAM and NAND flash storage, including SSDs. Those component costs can affect the price of a finished PC, but the reports do not provide a model-by-model breakdown showing which ASUS systems changed price or by how much.
What does the reported 25–30% increase mean?
On March 24, 2026, TrendForce summarized Taiwanese media reports anticipating ASUS PC price increases of 25–30% in Q2 2026, with further upward movement expected in Q3. This is a reported expectation for the Taiwan market, relayed through local publications—not confirmation of a worldwide ASUS price list or a uniform increase for every computer. The same coverage cited CPU shortages alongside memory and storage costs as additional pressure. TrendForce’s March report attributes these expectations to Taiwanese media reports.

How do the ASUS reports fit the broader PC market outlook?
Gartner’s February 26, 2026 forecast provides market context, not confirmation of ASUS’s pricing. Gartner estimated that combined DRAM and SSD prices could rise 130% by the end of 2026 compared with 2025, and projected a 17% increase in PC prices over the same comparison. It also forecast a 10.4% decline in worldwide PC shipments in 2026 versus 2025. These are forecasts, not observed final-year results, and the estimates do not specify ASUS model prices. Gartner’s forecast also included analyst Ranjit Atwal’s prediction that “The sub-$500 entry-level PC segment will disappear by 2028.” That, too, is a forecast—not a current fact or an ASUS statement.
How to check what a specific ASUS PC costs now
Because the reported changes are not a confirmed universal schedule, check the exact model and configuration available in your country rather than applying a market-wide percentage to its former price.

- Find the complete model name or SKU on ASUS’s local product page or the retailer listing.
- Compare the same configuration, including processor, installed RAM, SSD capacity, display and other major specifications. A similarly named system may have different components.
- Check the current local price and availability with ASUS or the retailer. Prices and stock can vary by seller and date.
- For a purchase decision, compare the system’s included memory and storage, upgradeability, intended workload, and local warranty—not just the headline price.
Can a memory upgrade or prebuilt desktop help?
ASUS’s September 29, 2026 PC-building guide says memory-kit costs may challenge builders and suggests looking for component combo deals or considering a prebuilt desktop as a starting point. Deal availability can change day to day, and a bundle does not guarantee savings. Choose hardware for the work you need it to do; compare the complete configuration and total price before buying. ASUS’s PC-building guide offers that consumer guidance but does not promise a particular saving.
A desktop DDR5 kit is relevant only if you own a compatible desktop and actually need more memory. Before buying, verify the system or motherboard’s supported memory type, capacity, and speed. Desktop memory is not an upgrade option for most laptops, and buying RAM does not necessarily offset a higher new-PC price.
