Yes. NVIDIA’s published specifications confirm that the GeForce RTX 5090 has a 512-bit memory interface, 32 GB of GDDR7, and 1,792 GB/s of peak memory bandwidth. The 512-bit figure first appeared in leak coverage in 2024; it is now an official specification. That is a substantial increase over the RTX 4090’s listed memory bandwidth, but it does not by itself predict a matching increase in game frame rates.

What the RTX 5090’s memory specifications say

NVIDIA lists the GeForce RTX 5090 with 32 GB of GDDR7 and a 512-bit memory interface on its product specification page. NVIDIA’s RTX Blackwell GPU Architecture paper gives the memory a 28 Gbps data rate and states peak bandwidth of 1,792 GB/s.

These numbers describe different aspects of the memory subsystem: 32 GB is capacity, 512-bit is the interface width, 28 Gbps is the data rate, and 1,792 GB/s is the resulting published peak bandwidth. The bandwidth figure is a specification, not a promise that every game or application will transfer data at that rate.

On those published figures, the RTX 5090 has 784 GB/s more peak bandwidth than the RTX 4090. This is a comparison of memory specifications only; it does not establish an equivalent percentage increase in gaming performance or performance in other applications.

What “tipped” meant—and what changed

On September 27, 2024, TechSpot’s Daniel Sims reported that leaker Kopite7kimi had posted a configuration for the then-presumed RTX 5090 with 32 GB of GDDR7 and a 512-bit bus. The report described it as a rumor, mentioned earlier claims of a 28 GB, 448-bit configuration, and cautioned that specifications could change. NVIDIA’s later product page and architecture paper provide the published figures: 32 GB, a 512-bit interface, 28 Gbps, and 1,792 GB/s peak bandwidth. The original TechSpot report explains the “tipped” wording in the headline; it is not the source to rely on for the final specification.

Does the wider bus mean higher frame rates?

Not on its own. Interface width and peak bandwidth describe memory hardware; game performance also depends on other parts of the GPU and the workload being run. The specifications support saying that the RTX 5090 has substantially higher peak memory bandwidth than the RTX 4090, but they do not establish a particular FPS gain. NVIDIA’s January 6, 2025 launch announcement also cited 92 billion transistors and more than 3,352 trillion AI operations per second; that AI TOPS figure is a separate metric, not a measure of memory bandwidth or gaming uplift. The announcement’s description of Blackwell as a graphics innovation is NVIDIA’s own launch positioning, not independent performance validation. See NVIDIA’s announcement.

Power figures are not interchangeable

NVIDIA’s architecture paper lists 575 W as the RTX 5090’s total graphics power. That is not the same specification as a recommended power supply for an entire PC. Recommendations can also differ by specific partner-card model: GIGABYTE lists a 1000 W recommended PSU for its RTX 5090 GAMING 32G, along with a 16-pin power connector. Its page also lists a VGA holder among the included accessories. Those details apply to that GIGABYTE model and should not be treated as universal requirements or accessories for every RTX 5090.
