Yes—United has begun offering Starlink Wi-Fi to passengers, but only on aircraft that have been equipped so far. MileagePlus members can use it free on those flights. United reported 450 mainline and United Express aircraft equipped in its second-quarter 2026 results and is targeting fleetwide installation by the end of 2027; your route alone does not guarantee Starlink because aircraft assignments can change.
Does United have Starlink Wi-Fi?
Yes. United moved from an agreement with SpaceX announced on September 13, 2024, to passenger service on equipped aircraft. The agreement covers United’s mainline and regional fleet, originally described as more than 1,000 aircraft. United announced its first regional installation in March 2025 and its first mainline customer flight in October 2025.
In its second-quarter 2026 results, United reported Starlink on 450 mainline and United Express aircraft. That is an airline-reported deployment count at that reporting point, not a live count or a guarantee that a particular flight has the system.
Is Starlink Wi-Fi free on United?
United says Starlink is free for MileagePlus members when they fly on an equipped aircraft. MileagePlus membership itself is free. The free-access offer does not mean Starlink is available on every United flight: the aircraft must have the equipment, and the rollout is ongoing.

How can I tell whether my United flight has Starlink?
United said it would notify customers in advance when their flight is equipped. Check your own trip details and any United notifications close to departure, rather than relying on a route or an earlier aircraft assignment. Aircraft may be changed, and the presence of a Starlink flight on a route does not establish that your specific departure will use an equipped plane.
What can passengers do with United Starlink?
United describes the service as supporting gate-to-gate connectivity, streaming, live TV, online gaming, shopping and work collaboration. It also says passengers can use personal devices alongside seatback entertainment screens and connect multiple devices. These are United’s stated capabilities, not a guarantee that every app or connection will work uninterrupted in every flight condition.

In March 2025, United cited a maximum of up to 250 Mbps on regional aircraft. That is an airline-stated ceiling from an earlier rollout phase, not a current typical speed or an independent measurement of passenger experience. United has not provided, in the cited announcements, independent speed-testing results or survey methodology for its satisfaction claims.
When will United have Starlink on every plane?
United’s stated timeline has shifted as the installation program has progressed. The latest dated fleetwide target in the cited company reporting is the end of 2027.

What does the transatlantic rollout mean for international flights?
United’s June 22, 2026 update marked its first Starlink-equipped widebody transatlantic customer flight, using a Boeing 777-200 on the New York/Newark–London route. United said equipped 777-200s could appear on named international routes, but aircraft assignments can change. The announcement does not mean every London flight—or every international United flight—has Starlink.

United has said that customer Wi-Fi satisfaction scores on Starlink-equipped flights nearly doubled in its February 2026 announcement and were twice as high as on other United flights in its second-quarter 2026 results. The cited materials do not state the survey sample or methodology, so these are airline-reported comparisons rather than independently verifiable performance statistics.

The practical distinction is between availability and capability: United has begun installing Starlink and describes a broad range of onboard uses, but coverage depends on the aircraft assigned to a given flight. For an individual trip, United’s flight-specific notification and trip details are more useful than a fleet forecast or a speed ceiling.
