Samsung’s One UI 7, based on Android 15, included the Galaxy S24 series in its 2025 rollout. The update brings a redesigned interface, lock-screen activity updates and new AI tools, but its arrival date and the availability of individual features depend on your market, carrier, model and language.
When did the Galaxy S24 get One UI 7?
Samsung announced on March 18, 2025, that the official One UI 7 rollout would begin on April 7, naming the Galaxy S24 series among the eligible devices. That was the start of a phased rollout, not a promise that every S24 owner would receive the update that day. Samsung said timing and availability could vary by market. Samsung’s global announcement explains the rollout.
Dates also differed by region. Samsung US said its rollout for the S24, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 would begin April 10 and noted that carrier timing could vary. Samsung Colombia’s support schedule later listed the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra in its June 2025 unlocked-device schedule, while warning that dates and eligible devices could change. The Colombia schedule is not a universal release date. Samsung Colombia’s schedule and support guidance are specific to that market.
To check your own phone, open Settings > Software update > Download and install. If the update is not offered, check again later or consult Samsung support for your country and carrier; a rollout announcement does not establish availability for every S24 variant at once.

What changed in One UI 7 on the Galaxy S24?
A redesigned interface and Now Bar
One UI 7 refreshes home-screen elements and adds the Now Bar, which can show selected live activity on the lock screen. Samsung’s examples include workout progress and music playback. A supported app must be running, and relevant lock-screen or app notifications may need to be enabled. Some widgets may also depend on a network connection or account. Samsung’s One UI 7 support guide covers the Now Bar and interface changes.
Separate notification and quick-settings panels
One UI 7 supports separate notification and quick-settings panels, so these controls no longer have to appear together in a single combined view. Samsung’s Colombia guide also provides help with folders, icons and Settings search. Menu behavior and available options can vary with device configuration.

Which Galaxy S24 AI features are new?
Samsung announced several AI-related tools for One UI 7, but they are not all available in every country, language or model configuration. Some require a Samsung or Google account and an internet connection. Samsung cautions that results may vary and are not guaranteed.
AI Select
AI Select suggests actions based on what is on screen. Samsung’s example is making a GIF from a video. The company says the feature requires internet access and a Samsung account; service and language availability can vary by country, language and model.
Rank #3
- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
Writing Assist
Writing Assist can summarize or reformat selected text. In Samsung US’s description, the tool works with text in Samsung Notes between 200 and 4,000 characters and requires a Samsung account and internet connection. That documented range applies to the described Notes feature, not necessarily every writing-related function.
Drawing Assist
Drawing Assist combines prompts, images or sketches to generate artwork. Samsung says it requires a Samsung account and network connection. Generated images saved with the feature receive a visible AI watermark; Samsung also says output accuracy and reliability are not guaranteed.
Rank #4
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Audio Eraser
Audio Eraser can identify sound categories in video—such as voices, music, wind, nature, crowds and noise—and reduce unwanted sound. Samsung says results depend on the video and that a Samsung account is required.
Gemini and natural-language Settings search
Samsung describes opening Gemini by long-pressing the side button and asking questions across supported interactions. Internet access, compatible software, language support and device availability apply; Samsung advises checking Gemini’s responses for accuracy.

One UI 7 also supports searching Settings with natural-language requests. Samsung’s example is saying, “My eyes are feeling tired,” to find relevant brightness or Eye Comfort Shield settings. Language and model support are limited, and Samsung does not guarantee the accuracy of search results. Samsung’s US One UI explainer describes these features and their stated requirements.

Samsung describes several added protections in One UI 7, though availability can depend on market, model and software timing. The announced controls include:
- Options to block 2G connections and avoid automatic reconnection to some less-secure Wi-Fi networks.
- USB data restrictions while the phone is locked.
- Safe Install warnings intended to help flag risky installations.
- Identity Check safeguards, including biometric verification in unfamiliar locations and a one-hour delay before certain sensitive changes.
These are Samsung-described capabilities, not a guarantee that every control appears on every S24 in every region. Check the security and privacy menus on your updated phone for the options available to your model. See Samsung’s rollout announcement for its feature overview and qualifications.
Is One UI 7 Android 15?
One UI 7 is Samsung’s software interface based on Android 15. Android is the underlying operating system; One UI is Samsung’s layer of interface features and tools on top of it. The Galaxy S24’s inclusion in Samsung’s rollout means eligible S24 devices receive Samsung’s One UI 7 implementation, not a separate edition of Android from Google.
