HotHardware reported planned U.S. availability for October 2009, but did not give a final price or confirm that the computer shipped.
What was the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition?
It was a themed edition of Dell’s Inspiron Mini 10v, not a separate computer platform. HotHardware’s August 12, 2009 report described the product as the “Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition” and identified it as Mini 10v-based. The Nickelodeon license was most visible in its design: green slime artwork appeared on the lid and beneath the keyboard. HotHardware’s original report is the source for the announcement details below.
What features did the announcement list?
HotHardware reported a 10.1-inch color LCD, built-in Wi-Fi, 1GB of memory and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. It also described a customizable user interface and said the netbook weighed less than three pounds. These are reported announcement-era specifications, not independent test results or a complete configuration sheet.
What child-focused features were described?
The announcement said the netbook would include preloaded educational content and parental monitoring and control. The report did not name the educational software or explain what the controls could monitor or restrict. It therefore does not establish specific filtering or safety capabilities, how those features performed, or whether they work with current software.

Alongside the slime design, HotHardware said Dell’s Design Studio would offer artwork inspired by iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants. The reported distinction among these options was their licensed artwork; the article did not identify differences in hardware or price.
For the United States, the report named Dell.com, Walmart stores and Walmart.com as planned sales channels, with availability expected in October 2009. It said Dell would announce pricing and further details before the first shipments. The report does not provide that final price or confirm actual availability or shipment.
