Razer says the DeathAdder V4 Pro is the first gaming mouse to feature its HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 system. Separately, the company calls its optical scroll wheel the first in a Razer mouse. Announced July 10, 2025, the wireless model pairs those changes with up to 8,000 Hz polling, a lighter right-handed design and a high-spec sensor.
What is the DeathAdder V4 Pro’s first-time feature?
The headline wireless feature is Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2. In its July 10, 2025 launch announcement, Razer described the DeathAdder V4 Pro as the first gaming mouse to feature this wireless system. Razer says Gen-2 is over 63% more power-efficient and has 37% lower latency than its predecessor; these are the company’s comparisons, not independently measured results. Razer’s launch announcement also identifies a separate product-line debut: the mouse has Razer’s first Optical Scroll Wheel. Neither claim means it was the first mouse from any company to use optical scrolling.
What the new features and specifications mean
Polling rate and battery life
Razer specifies polling rates of up to 8,000 Hz in both wired and wireless modes. A higher polling rate means the mouse can report its position to the computer more frequently, but it is not a guarantee of a noticeable improvement for every player. Battery life also depends heavily on the selected rate: Razer claims up to 150 hours at 1,000 Hz, while GamesRadar+ reports Razer’s estimate of 22 hours at 8,000 Hz. Those are mode-specific estimates, not a single expected runtime. GamesRadar+’s review also notes that the box includes an 8,000 Hz receiver.
Optical scroll wheel and switches
Razer says the optical scroll wheel is designed for esports and claims it offers triple the durability of traditional mechanical scroll wheels. That durability figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independent lifecycle test. The mouse also uses Razer Optical Mouse Switches Gen-4, rated by Razer for 100 million clicks.

Sensor and weight
Razer lists a Focus Pro 45K Optical Sensor Gen-2 with up to 45,000 DPI, 900 IPS, 85 G and 99.8% resolution accuracy. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish that a player will aim better at the maximum settings. Weight varies by finish: Razer lists the black model at 56 g and white at 57 g in its announcement, while its product page lists Esports Green at 58 g. Razer says the design is more than 10% lighter than the previous generation. The company also says the construction uses over 67% bio-based and post-consumer recycled plastics.
Shape, controls and trade-offs
The DeathAdder V4 Pro retains the line’s right-handed ergonomic approach, with a refined shape, larger PTFE feet, split side buttons and a smooth-touch finish. Razer’s DeathAdder family has sold over 20 million units worldwide, according to the company’s 2025 announcement; that is Razer’s figure, not an independently audited count. Reviews describe the V4 Pro as aimed at competitive play, but comfort still depends on hand size, grip and personal preference.

GamesRadar+ describes six buttons and highlights the separated side buttons, while TechRadar notes that the mouse has no RGB lighting. Both reviews identify a premium price as a drawback; GamesRadar+ also flags the absence of Bluetooth and the battery cost of high polling. TechRadar’s review listed $169.99, £169.99 and AU$299.95 at publication, which are historical review prices rather than current quotes. TechRadar’s review says its reviewer used the mouse for about two weeks, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6; GamesRadar+ describes FPS and aim-training use in its hands-on review.

The V4 Pro is most relevant to players who want a right-handed ergonomic shape, wireless operation and a high polling ceiling, and who are willing to manage battery life around their chosen rate. Consider how well the shape fits your grip, whether the scroll and click feel suit you, and whether you need Bluetooth, lighting or additional controls before choosing it. For alternatives, TechRadar names the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX and Razer Viper V3 Pro; GamesRadar+ also mentions the Keychron M7 8K as a lower-priced option in its review. Compare shape, connectivity, polling-rate battery life and current local pricing rather than relying on launch-era prices.
