Which controller setup is best supported?
Stellar Blade on PC advertises DualSense support with haptic feedback on PlayStation’s official PC feature page. Steam’s game listing specifically recommends a DualSense over wired USB and says the game supports responsive vibrations. It also supports mouse and keyboard.
That makes wired USB DualSense the simplest documented starting point if you already own one. PlayStation also lists wireless DualSense support, but the available information does not establish that every haptic feature works wirelessly in every PC setup. Do not assume that switching connection types preserves identical features.
Set up a controller and troubleshoot it
- Start with a wired DualSense. Connect it to the PC with USB, then launch the Steam version of Stellar Blade through Steam. This follows Steam’s recommended connection.
- Confirm that the controller is connected to the PC and visible to Steam. If it is not detected there, fix the connection before changing the game’s mappings. The available official instructions do not specify a complete Windows device-diagnostic procedure, so avoid guessing at system menus or driver fixes.
- Check the game’s Steam controller setting. If Steam detects the pad but controls or features behave incorrectly, test the per-game Steam Input setting. Change one setting at a time, then restart or retest the game so you can tell whether it helped.
- If you use a DualShock 4, identify its adapter. In a Steam discussion on June 2, 2025, a SHIFT UP developer account said the official Sony DualShock 4 USB wireless adapter should work as intended. The same response says Steam Input must be enabled when using a generic Bluetooth adapter for the controller to function properly. Apply that guidance to those adapter cases; it is not a universal rule for every controller or setup.
- Retest inputs and on-screen prompts after each change. If the issue continues, use Steam’s Stellar Blade gameplay or technical issue support route. Avoid unsupported driver downloads or third-party remappers as a first resort.
When Steam Input helps—or causes a feature problem
Steam Input is not a single guaranteed fix for every controller issue. The SHIFT UP guidance above specifically calls for it with a DualShock 4 using a generic Bluetooth adapter. In contrast, a community-maintained Steam Input configuration listing for Stellar Blade reports virtual gamepad support and warns that Steam Input may disable some partial controller features.

Use that database as a troubleshooting lead, not as official documentation. If the controller is already detected but an input or feature is wrong, try the per-game setting in either direction one change at a time and retest. If the pad is not working through the generic Bluetooth adapter described in the developer response, enable Steam Input rather than turning it off.
What is—and is not—established for other controllers
The official product information cited here documents DualSense features and Steam’s wired USB recommendation. It does not provide a complete compatibility or feature matrix for Xbox, Switch, generic XInput, or third-party controllers. A controller may accept inputs without providing the same vibration, haptic feedback, or prompts; the cited material does not establish parity across those devices.

Steam’s support page lists Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, and 75 GB storage among the game’s minimum PC requirements. Those are general system requirements, not a controller-specific fix.
