The M5Cardputer Morse Code Suite is a work-in-progress collection of programs for learning, practicing, and playing Morse code on M5Stack’s Cardputer. Its creator describes a Wi-Fi message-exchange program and two reaction games; microphone-based Morse decoding is a future intention, not a feature the project page says is already available.
What is the M5Cardputer Morse Code Suite?
ProfessorSparks describes it as “A growing set of Cardputer programs to learn, practice and play with Morse Code. using paddles or straight keys.” The project page labels the suite a work in progress, so it should be treated as a maker software project rather than a finished commercial product or a guaranteed, independently verified package. What programs are described?
Wifi Telegraph
Wifi Telegraph is described as allowing two Cardputers connected to the same Wi-Fi network to exchange Morse messages. The users are responsible for translating the messages; the project description does not present this feature as automatic text decoding.
Morsegame and Morsefalls
These are described as reaction-time games. The Cardputer presents a letter, and the player enters its Morse code to eliminate it. The description does not provide measured learning outcomes or performance results.

Microphone decoding is planned, not established
The creator mentions microphone-based listening and converting Morse into letters as a future plan. That should not be confused with a demonstrated capability of the current suite. Although the Cardputer platform has a MEMS microphone, its presence on the device does not establish that this software uses it for decoding. M5Stack’s Cardputer documentation lists the platform hardware.
What hardware does it involve?
The project lists these components:

- CW paddle
- Straight key
- Grove cable
- Custom 3D-printed base
The project page does not specify exact paddle or key models, a complete wiring pinout, or compatibility with arbitrary accessories. Check the project’s wiring details and your Cardputer variant before choosing a key or connecting hardware.

M5Stack describes the Cardputer as a compact computer based on the StampS3, with a 56-key keyboard, 1.14-inch TFT display, MEMS microphone, speaker, IR emitter, Grove port, microSD slot, and battery system. Its documentation covers both Cardputer and Cardputer-Adv; do not assume that hardware or firmware for one variant is interchangeable with the other.
How does it differ from a Morse decoder?
The suite’s described emphasis is Morse message exchange and games, not automatic decoding of incoming Morse audio. A separate project, the Cardputer-Adv Morse Code Tuner, describes real-time decoding and adjustable WPM, tone frequency, and volume. It is not part of the M5Cardputer Morse Code Suite, and no controlled performance comparison between the projects is established. View the separate Morse Code Tuner repository.

What do developers need to know?
M5Stack’s official Arduino instructions cover Cardputer and Cardputer-Adv. They direct developers to install Arduino IDE and the M5Stack board manager, select the M5Cardputer board, install the M5Cardputer driver library and dependencies, and use a USB-C data cable to enter download mode. These are platform instructions, not confirmed build requirements for this particular suite. Read M5Stack’s programming and upload instructions.
For its keyboard examples, M5Stack lists board manager version 3.2.2 or later, M5Cardputer library 1.1.0 or later, M5Unified 0.2.8 or later, and M5GFX 0.2.10 or later. The examples call M5Cardputer.update() in the main loop and advise minimizing blocking operations so keyboard changes are captured. These example-specific requirements should not be assumed to be the suite’s own build requirements without confirmation from its source. See the official keyboard documentation.
