What the Magicbit Smart Alarm does
Magicbit describes this project as a smart alarm clock that speaks, announces the time, and reads a user-provided phrase. It is a project built with Magicblocks, not a review of a finished consumer alarm clock. The [official Smart Alarm tutorial](https://magicbit.cc/2022/07/11/smart-alarm/) documents an inject-and-play-sound flow.
The tutorial’s example schedules the inject node to repeat on Monday at 8:00 AM. Choose the specific time and repeat schedule that suit your use; those example values are not fixed project requirements.
What you need to know about the Magicbit board
The platform for the project is the Magicbit ESP32 development board. Magicbit lists an onboard OLED display and buzzer, buttons, sensor inputs, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Espressif also describes Magicbit as an ESP32-based development board. The project description does not say that you need to connect a separate display or buzzer.

Magicbit specifies a 3.3 V operating voltage and says the board can be supplied with 5 V through USB. Do not exceed the 5 V limit. If you plan to expand the build with external components, check their electrical requirements against the board documentation rather than assuming they can be connected directly.
Configure the alarm in Magicblocks
- Set the phrase. In the project’s inject node, enter the phrase you want the alarm to read.
- Choose when it repeats. Configure the inject node to repeat at a specific time. The tutorial’s Monday 8:00 AM setting is an example.
- Use the play-sound node. The documented flow uses this node to play the spoken alarm.
- Deploy the flow. Deploy it in Magicblocks, then wait for the scheduled alarm to run.
When it triggers, the project is intended to announce the time and read the phrase you supplied. The tutorial does not provide enough configuration detail to specify every screen or option, so follow the node settings available in your Magicblocks project rather than relying on undocumented settings.

What the tutorial does not establish
The published Smart Alarm instructions identify the inject and play-sound nodes, but do not name a speech provider or explain its setup. They also do not establish whether an internet connection is required when the alarm sounds, or document every configuration screen. Those details should not be assumed from the board’s Wi-Fi or Bluetooth capability alone.
Magicbit’s project index lists a separate Smart Clock tutorial with reminder, voice-control, and automatic-time-adjustment capabilities. Arduino setup information
Magicbit also provides an Arduino setup route: install the Magicbit platform and select the Magicbit board in the IDE, as described in its [Getting Started lesson](https://magicbit.cc/2021/01/15/installation-instructions/). That is useful background for Arduino-based development, but the Smart Alarm instructions describe a Magicblocks flow; the Arduino setup steps are not presented as a required part of configuring this alarm.
For board details, Magicbit’s [Learn Magicbit documentation](https://magicbit.cc/learn_magicbit/) identifies the onboard buzzer on pin 25. That pin information is relevant if you are working with the board in your own code; it is not an additional wiring step specified by the Smart Alarm tutorial.
