GitHub named v3.4.19-beta1 as the version to download to try them. That is the version cited in the announcement, not the current beta; the releases page now lists later betas.
What the two features do
Sign in across more than one GitHub domain
GitHub described multi-domain support for people who work across multiple GitHub instances. The intended benefit is less time spent on sign-in flows. The announcement does not specify which enterprise or self-hosted server configurations are compatible, how to configure them, or how many accounts or domains can be used.
Filter the changed-files list by filename
The filter helps locate files in a long list of changes, which can make review quicker and help identify files intended for a commit. GitHub’s announcement says, “Now, you can filter by filename to review your changes faster.” It does not establish whether the filter matches file paths or filenames only, whether matching is case-sensitive, or whether filtering changes staging or commit selection.
Which version did GitHub announce?
In its March 31, 2025 announcement, GitHub told readers to download GitHub Desktop v3.4.19-beta1 to try the features. That is historical version context, not a recommendation that it is the latest beta. The official releases page lists later betas, including 3.6.7-beta1 as of October 4, 2026. The available announcements do not confirm whether these two features are included in that later version, remain in preview, or have reached a stable release.

Linux support is not official
The GitHub Desktop project repository says Linux is not officially supported and links to community-created installers. That is not evidence of official Linux availability for these features. Check the project’s repository for its support statement and linked community options.
What the announcement leaves unanswered
The March 2025 announcement presents authentication across GitHub domains and file-list filtering as distinct aids; it does not say that either feature depends on or enables the other. It also does not document account or domain limits, compatible server configurations, filter matching behavior, or effects on staging and commits. Those details should not be inferred from the feature names.
