To install a specific older Intel Arc driver, download that version from Intel’s Download Center and install it; to return to the driver Windows previously used, try Device Manager’s Roll Back Driver option first. These are different procedures: rollback depends on Windows retaining the previous driver files, while a manual downgrade lets you choose a particular release.
Choose the right driver route

Before changing the driver
- Confirm the Arc model and Windows version, then choose a package that applies to that hardware and operating system. Do not assume an arbitrary older release is suitable.
- If the computer is a branded or customized system, check the PC maker’s support page for its graphics driver first. Manufacturers may customize Intel’s generic package or its packaging. Intel’s guidance on generic and OEM drivers.
- Keep in mind that a clean installation removes old drivers, resets Intel graphics settings to defaults, and clears the shader cache. Use it when appropriate for the selected procedure, not as a universal fix. Intel Arc downgrade instructions.
Install a selected older Arc driver
Use this path when you know which release you want, or when Device Manager cannot roll back. Intel’s procedure applies to Arc A- and B-series graphics on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Open the Intel Download Center.
- Choose Graphics, then the Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics – Windows driver family.
- Open the Version menu and select the release you need. Intel notes that some older Arc drivers may be available from this dropdown even when they do not appear in a standard Download Center search. Intel’s historical graphics-driver guidance.
- Download the package and run its installer. Intel’s Arc downgrade procedure recommends performing a clean installation; use the installer’s clean-install option when following that procedure.
If the version you need is no longer listed by Intel, check the computer manufacturer’s support site. Its package may be specific to the system. The available guidance does not identify one older version as best for every Arc model or every reason for downgrading.
Roll back through Device Manager
This uses the previous driver files Windows retained on the PC; it does not let you pick any historical release.

- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click the Intel Arc display device, and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver. Follow any prompts Windows displays.
If the button is greyed out or missing, Windows may not have a previous driver installation or may no longer retain the original files. Download the intended version from Intel or the PC manufacturer instead. Avoid using Intel’s older uninstall procedure to install or remove Windows DCH drivers: Intel warns that bypassing its installer can cause system instability. If Windows Update restores a different driver
For the specific case where Windows Update replaces the graphics driver, Intel’s workaround is to install the latest Intel graphics driver over the Windows Update-installed version, leaving Execute a clean installation unchecked. This is intentionally different from Intel’s clean-install recommendation for a deliberate Arc downgrade: it addresses Windows Update reversion, not every driver problem. If that over-install does not work, follow Intel’s manual-installation route in the same article; Intel documents an optional reboot as part of that troubleshooting path. Do not apply those steps as a substitute for choosing a specific older release.

If a manual installation appears successful but the driver changes back after each shutdown or restart, Intel says leftover driver files can sometimes cause the behavior. For this symptom, Intel recommends using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove residual files, then installing the latest Intel graphics driver. This cleanup is targeted troubleshooting, not a required first step for a normal downgrade. Intel’s guidance for reversion after restarting.
