A purported Intel Nova Lake-HX laptop configuration could include 28 CPU cores, but that figure comes from an unconfirmed leak—not an Intel announcement. The reported layout is 8 performance cores, 16 efficiency cores, and 4 low-power efficiency cores.
Will Intel Nova Lake laptops have 28 cores?
That remains unconfirmed. Tom’s Hardware reported on August 10, 2025, that tipster Jaykihn had disclosed a Nova Lake mobile configuration with 28 CPU cores. VideoCardz reported a similar purported lineup on August 9, 2025. Both reports describe leaked information, not final Intel specifications: Tom’s Hardware’s report and VideoCardz’s report.
Intel’s official materials surfaced in coverage of this claim do not confirm the Nova Lake mobile configuration. The final specifications, product names, and release timing therefore remain unsettled.
What does 8P+16E+4LP-E mean?
The notation describes the reported mix of CPU core types: 8 performance (P) cores, 16 efficiency (E) cores, and 4 low-power efficiency (LP-E) cores. Added together, those make 28 CPU cores.

The same leak separately lists four Xe3 graphics cores. Those are GPU cores, not CPU cores, so they do not change the reported 28-core CPU total.

The leak describes possible H- and U-series mobile configurations as well as the top-end HX configuration. These are also unconfirmed:

The core counts alone are not enough to compare performance or decide whether to buy a laptop. Until Intel confirms the parts and manufacturers announce actual systems, there is no verified basis for judging how these configurations will perform, what they will cost, or when they will be available. Treat the 28-core figure as a rumor rather than a buying specification.
