Gemini access on a Mac is controlled in several places, not by one master switch. To stop access to a specific folder, disconnect it in Gemini Spark’s Connected folders; to stop an integration, disconnect it in Connected Apps; and to manage browsing or chat records, use the separate browser-history and Gemini activity controls. These steps stop future access or remove selected records, but they do not necessarily erase information another service has already received.
Review and disconnect folders on your Mac
Gemini Spark can access local folders only when the folder is added to Connected folders and the required Mac permission is granted. Google states, “Gemini can only view files or directories that you specifically add to the Connected folders toolbar.” Spark may also edit or organize connected files, including actions that could permanently delete or share them, so take particular care with sensitive files and public cloud drives. - Open the Gemini app on your Mac.
- Choose Spark in the sidebar.
- Under Connected folders, find the folder you want to remove.
- Use the control beside that folder and choose Disconnect.
If macOS asks for permission, that is a separate permission step from adding or disconnecting a folder. Disconnecting removes Gemini’s connection; it does not delete the original folder or its files. Google says turning Gemini Spark off also removes its access to files in connected folders.
Disconnect a Connected App
Connected Apps have separate controls from Mac folders. On a computer, open gemini.google.com and open Connected Apps settings to review available integrations and disconnect one. In Gemini in Chrome, Google documents this route: Ask Gemini → More → Settings & help → Personal Intelligence → Connected Apps; switch off the app you want to disconnect. The Chrome setting applies across Gemini Apps, including Gemini in Chrome. See Google’s Connected Apps instructions.

The apps shown and the exact controls can vary by account, device, location, language, and Gemini surface. For work or school accounts, availability may depend on the Workspace edition and administrator enablement; an organization’s Workspace administrator controls whether apps are enabled. Disconnecting an integration stops its connected access, but does not remove Gemini chat or activity records, nor information the other service already received.
Manage Spark remote-browser data separately from Chrome history
Gemini Spark’s remote browser and the Chrome browser on your Mac are different data sources. Spark’s remote browser processes session information such as authentication cookies and page content. To interrupt current work, use Stop or Take Control. To delete remote-browser data, use the control in Spark settings; Google says this signs you out of sites in that remote browser. Gemini in Chrome has its own review paths: Gemini-related chats can be reviewed in Gemini Apps Activity, while sites Gemini visits can be reviewed or deleted in Chrome history. Removing an entry from one place should not be treated as deleting the corresponding record everywhere. See Google’s Gemini in Chrome help.
Delete Gemini activity and consider previously shared information
To remove information from Gemini’s activity records, review Gemini Apps Activity and delete the relevant activity or chats; you can also remove a conversation from Recent chats. If the information came from a connected app, disconnect that app as well. Google says either action by itself may be insufficient to address both the activity record and future connected access. Revocation and deletion are distinct. Disconnecting an app, or deleting data inside a connected app, does not delete Gemini Apps Activity. Deleting Gemini Apps Activity does not delete information already received by another app. These controls therefore cannot guarantee that every copy or record has been erased.

Account and information limits
Work and school account settings may be managed by the organization’s Workspace administrator, who controls whether Connected Apps are enabled. Also, Connected Apps settings do not control every public-information source Gemini may use from Google services; disconnecting integrations should not be understood as disabling all such use.
